Let me just start this blog post by being cliché and saying I love the 4th of July.

[I mean who doesn’t love America, fireworks and hamburgers? Pleaseeeee tell me. I need to have a chit chat with them.]

Most importantly, I love how relaxed my mom makes this holiday. She tells everyone to bring one thing and we lay by the pool, nap and head to the fireworks show in Fort Worth. No driving. No drama. No sweating in a kitchen. [I hosted Father’s Day at my home this year and it was lovely and I enjoyed it, but oh my gosh. COOKING FOR A BIG GROUP IS A SWEATY MESS!]

One year I made a chocolate chip cake. Yep. A cake with chocolate chips in it. That was a low point in my Pinterest career and ever since my mom has me in charge of the cocktails.

I’m not a big drinker. [And by that I mean I’m just super picky. Poor Paul has spent so much on wine that was never drank because it tasted “like nail polish remover.”] Cupcake wine [and of course I started purchasing it from the liquor shop because of the name] is always one of my go-to’s and I found a sangria recipe to use with it, so feel free to make it for your family this weekend!

You need:

1. 1.5 Cups Blueberry Juice

2. 1.5 Cups Cupcake Sauvignon Blanc

3. 1/4 Cup Orange Flavored Liquor [ex: Grand Marnier] {This is optional. I didn’t add it to mine.}

4. 1 Orange, Halved & Sliced

5. 1 Cup Fresh Blueberries

6. 1.5 Cups Chilled Sprite

Pour ingredients in a pitcher, chill and then pour Sprite over when ready to serve!

I’m wearing this dress from Chicwish for the 4th! I just imagined it with messy pool hair and sunburnt cheeks [it’s inevitable 🙁 ]and thought it was such an easy look! You can add in red or blue accents with jewelry. Chicwish has a lot of chambray dresses on their site right now for summer I will round up below!

What do you and your family do for the 4th?! I’d love some ideas!

  1. This recipe looks delicious and, of course, very pretty! I am a picky drinker also and have never tried Sangria, so I will have to give this recipe a go!

    Thanks for sharing Katey! I hope you have a great 4th of July!

    Love this sangria! I always come here for the fashion and beauty, but it’s your recipes that end up being my favorite! We are having a lazy 4th of July with the family as well so I’m definitely going to make this sangria to sip while we relax.

    I am a little picky with wine, too. Whenever I end up with a not-so-yummy bottle, I use it for sangria or punch. I would suggest sticking with a riesling or moscato, and you will not be disappointed. Yellowtail, Flip Flop, and The Naked Grape are all inexpensive and delicious!
