We are starting to get back into the swing of things over at Hotel Hellman! I touched on this a bit in yesterday’s post, but little things after you give birth can feel like a huge accomplishment- and they are! Paul went back to work last week and as of yesterday, I’m starting to feel like I have a good sense of a routine down. I finished some work, made dinner, did a bit of laundry and took Maxi and Peaches on a walk. Granted, I wore the same outfit I had on the day before, one load of laundry is STILL in the dryer [oops] and I had one too many Oreos [breastfeeding makes me famished]. But let’s just look at the positives, shall we?! 😉 I know those sound like such basic tasks but I was pretty stinkin’ proud I did it. Your body goes through so much growing a baby and giving birth that I was in shock at how much things exhausted me once we were home. All of that to say, I felt like Super Woman yesterday and I know that’s a normal day for 99% of people! haha! But it’s enough for me to celebrate! 🙂 To all my readers that are moms, you’re my hero and how do you accomplish all that you do?! #TakingNotesOverHere Of course, I’m not in any rush to get a lot accomplished. My biggest priority right now is just soaking in all of her cuddles! I just keep joking with Paul that moms must have all these secrets because I don’t even know how they do all they do- especially with multiples!

Now that we’ve moved past minor accomplishments that I’m celebrating as if I just got into Harvard Law, let’s chat about spring clothing! I shared that I purchased these pieces separately on the blog, so I thought I’d give my take on styling them today! This top is by far one of my favorite purchases for spring because of the breathable lace! I just have on an inexpensive white tank underneath and I know I’ll be an outfit repeater with this all spring and summer. I added a pop or turquoise and leopard but it still felt like a relaxed look that wasn’t too loud. With wedges, I think this would be such an easy look to throw on for church if your church is more casual. Also, don’t be intimidated by an all-white look! You can wear white year-round, I just base it more on textures of clothing. I’d probably start wearing this look early April, but wanted to style it for y’all here so you can start planning your spring wardrobe.

Also! You might have noticed from these photos, I blunt chopped my hair! Scratch that. You probably can’t tell from these photos because it was terrible weather and drizzling and I think half my hair is sticking to my neck…. but I did! I just wanted something fresh for after Maxi and to try something new. I am loving it! I will say, I don’t like my hair straight as much with a blunt hair cut, but I love it curled! So here’s to minor accomplishments, spring purchases and haircuts! Thank you so much for reading. 🙂

  2. I need to blunt cut my hair! I keep asking for less and less layers because I think it makes my thin ends even worse.

Katey! I’m so glad the delivery went well and that Maxi is healthy! You look wonderful and happy and radiant my dear! And there is no magic formula with kiddos, but the Sbux in your hand is a great start after breastfeeding! 😉 It helps me feel like I’ve slept over the past four years haha! Enjoy your snuggles!

  13. First of all, congrats on your new baby! Don’t doubt yourself or play-down the “average day” since I’m sure getting back into the swing of things is hard for anyone to accomplish! And I always love the femininity of white look– you look great and keep up being an amazing new mom 🙂 For someone who is working and blogging and mommy-ing, well you are already someone I can look up to for when it’s my turn one day !

Hi!! You look absolutely amazing!!! I have two boys and really struggled with the new, slower routine after I had them because I thrive on accomplishing tasks and checking things off of my list. I used to think the same thing…what is everyone’s secret??, but I finally realized about 5 years into motherhood there is no secret. People either have help (ie. Nanny, maid, personal home assistant, etc.) Or something you don’t see is being neglected. I should have let my home go a little more when I had babies, but instead, I was hurriedly cleaning the house, pulling myself together, putting away laundry and lighting candles before a meal was delivered. ..while my baby was in the swing or playing in the bouncy seat. A meal from our small group at church was intended to lighten my load, but instead I chose to be cray and created so much work around it! I wish I would have just relaxed a little more and let the other stuff go for a season while I held my baby more!! It’s a season. Be encouraged; you don’t have to do it all. You are such a good mama, loving on Maxi!! Love your blog. Thank you for all you share!

      Hi Pam!

Thank you SO much for your sweet comment! I truly needed to hear that! Because I’m currently sitting here with LOADS of laundry that need to be finished, thank you notes that are unbelievably late and a messy house that I have no intention of cleaning. I keep thinking, “Will I ever get to these things?!” I’d just rather hold her! All of that to say, your comment was so encouraging!! And I totally am with you on the visitors! I stressed myself out too and would clean my house and get ready and then I thought, “Wait, I don’t think that is the point of this!” haha. Thank you for reading!!

      xoxo,

      Katey
