Gingham Love

Let’s discuss a trend I used to steer clear of: gingham. It’s everywhere this season and up until I wore this dress, I avoided it. I thought it veered a little too preppy for my style, and while I personally love J.Crew and a good Lilly dress for church, it’s not what I reach for everyday.

The great thing about gingham prints this season is that they typically come in very light fabrics! I’ve purchased a few gingham items as of lately and they are so incredibly breathable- like this dress. With the Texas heat, a baby on my hip and a diaper bag/purse I can’t have on anything too warm. Otherwise I look a little Britney Spears 2007 and we can’t have that, now can we?

In the photos my top looks a little navy, but I can assure you it is the black and white print which is why I paired it with black espadrilles. I get a little uncomfortable wearing super high espadrilles carrying Maxi. My mom took me to Tory Burch the other day and she wanted to treat me to a pair. I think she felt bad for me with the whole 4-month sleep regression or something! haha. Anyways, I tried them on and they were leopard and filled with all the Katey goodness in the world. I stood up and I just couldn’t do it. I kept thinking I’d trip walking in church holding her and I got way too nervous. So I walked out shoe-less and decided to stick with the flatform options like featured above. Besides- they are MUCH more comfortable.

I rounded up a few gingham pieces I love for the season. Let me know if you try any!

  1. I actually used to avoid gingham as well until quite recently. I’m learning how to wear it and am learning from blogs, like yours!

  2. I haven’t really cared for gingham either until this season! I think it’s the combination of gingham + ruffles that gets me! Love all the options you’ve linked!

I love this look! Black and white gingham really is such a great print for summer. Especially with all the light weight dresses and ruffles this season. I’m so sad about your leopard espadrilles but I completely understand your worries…I worry about tripping and I don’t have a baby to worry about. ????

I have to admit I love the gingham print. I would purchase everything with a gingham pattern.

So glad you found a great piece for your wardrobe.
