Maybe I’m the lone wolf here, but when I’ve got to be ready in five minutes I automatically think I have nothing to wear. I’m normally just running to lunch with a friend or doing nothing where I should overthink my look and that’s exactly why I can’t get my act together. Then I make a mess in my closet and come home to a tornado I don’t want to clean up.

So instead of just reaching for workout clothes, today’s post is for those mornings that we all need something casual we can throw on in five minutes and head out the door. Let’s break down the look:

one [1,2,3] | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight

One. Start with a fitted, black sweater! I got this one from my mom for Christmas, but it sold out quickly. I linked three similar options and love how they have bell-sleeve accents like the one I’m wearing. Sleeve details make a shirt look a lot dressier than it is while still allowing you to keep your look comfortable.

Two. Tuck in your sweater and add a fun belt. I love this leopard belt by Ann Taylor and firmly believe a tucked-in top automatically makes your outfit more put together. I also find it a lot easier to have a tucked-in top with Maxi now because then I don’t fidget with my sweater when I’m getting her in and out of the car or highchair.

Three. I link these black sunglasses each time they come back in stock, but sadly they also sold out. However, these are a new pair and they remind me of the Porsche aviators! They are really unique and a good price.

Four. Grab some cropped denim. I shared a cropped pair in yesterday’s blog post and here is another great option if you’re more petite.

Five. Free People makes my favorite bralettes and this newer style has been everywhere. If you aren’t sure how to wear them outside of the the summer months, you can always wear them under a sweater. If your sweater happens to be a little off the shoulder, then I prefer these straps to a normal bra strap showing.

Six. White sneakers are a great way to break up an all-black look and can be worn year round. Mine are by M.Gemi and run TTS. You can also wear these with sundresses in the spring if you want to make your look a little more casual.

Seven. This is my Victoria Emerson marble watch I shared back in this post.

Eight. This is my YSL satchel bag and I’m so upset they discontinued making this style. It’s my favorite style of handbag they made and I would truly get it in another color like pink. The other YSL bags are just a bit too structured for my taste. This is a much more affordable option that feels really designer.

So grab a fitted black sweater, tuck it in with a printed belt and throw on some sneakers. You’re ready in 5!

What’s your go-to look when you have nothing to wear?!

  1. I totally get what you mean about feeling like I have nothing to wear! In truth, I have a huge wardrobe and I don’t even wear half of my clothes. But I always feel so panicky when I get dressed in the morning!
