What To Wear: Thanksgiving

Christmas Day we lounge around in pajamas and no makeup eating plenty of sweets for Jesus’ birthday, but on Thanksgiving we try to keep it easy. We go out to eat just so that we can truly enjoy time together. My family started to do this a few years ago and after cooking for my first Friendsgiving this past year I don’t know how more people don’t do it.
If you have ever cooked an entire Thanksgiving meal:
1. You could have bought 4 pairs of Jimmy Choos. Uh, it is EXPENSIVE. Of course I know it is a memory you keep forever and a tremendous gesture of love, but I was still in shock at Kroger. I seriously need to learn to cook more.
2. You are superwoman. I applaud you and you deserved a spa day after.
Instead of worrying about what time to eat and running to the neighbor’s to pick up an extra spice we all go for a family run in the morning and then get ready to eat! After lunch I require everyone to watch Gone With The Wind  [mostly because my dad can only suffer through it once a year…] and we spend the evening making desserts and talking about what we are thankful for.
I wanted to share my Thanksgiving outfit because it is so easy for a “day-to-night” transition. I know some of you dress up more for your Thanksgiving dinner or have to go to your boyfriend’s house, too.
I start off with this turtleneck. By far the best investment I have made this fall. I add tights, booties and a printed little skirt. I keep the mulan bun because it’s easy ;). After lunch I just throw on a pair of boyfriend jeans and I can leave the booties or add converse. The lipstick and earrings allow you to always look pulled together in photos even if you feel stuffed.
I hope you all have a wonderful time next week with family and friends! I’m so thankful you have taken the time to read my little blog!
If you have any questions about your Thanksgiving wear let me know! 🙂

  1. I LOVE this look! The earrings are the perfect pop of color. Will you do a Mulan bun tutorial? I have too much hair for a top knot, but I think I could possibly pull that one off.

My grandmother passed away less than a week before Thanksgiving when I was younger, so we changed our tradition to going out to eat each year. This year I’m visiting my dad for Thanksgiving, so I’m not sure what to expect! Hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving 🙂
