March Favorites

And March is almost over….
Pretty soon I’m going to be posting about covering sunburns with a kimono or something.
Somehow I started this month saying, “Katey, you’re moving into an older home with a small bathroom. You’re going to be living with a husband soon. Why don’t you do the fiscally responsible thing and use the beauty products you have and not purchase any until the wedding.”
I quickly learned that is no fun. And life is way too short to not have fun….
I ended this month purchasing some hot pink lipstick [you can never have enough] and products to give you beach bed head! Here are my favorites!
1. Trish McEvoy Wild Blueberry Vanilla Candle: This is not a new favorite. But it was repurchased this month and it smells like Jesus so it made #1.

2. YSL Lipstick in 49: I’m a huge fan of YSL Rose Libertin, but eventually I’ll remember to spray tan and 49 looks so stinkin’ summery I had to.

3. YSL Lipgloss in 108: I normalllly steer clear of makeup sales associates. I’m such a sucker. They could show me a mascara made from eggplant, and if she is sweet I think she totally deserves commission. However, I didn’t run last week and a YSL girl taught me that if I add this over any pink lipstick it adds a lilac tone [duh, but lilac is my favorite] and makes your teeth appear whiter!

4. Deborah Lippman Nail Polish: It’s Raining Men, Makin Whoopee, La Vie En Rose: What do you do to be practical when you are buying a home? Stop getting weekly gel manicures. What do you do when you stop getting weekly gel manicures? Spend an absurd amount on nail polish. But in all seriousness, I’m the worst at painting my own nails and for some reason I am able to with Deborah Lippman. And her polish lasts a good 5 days on me [which is a complete and total miracle]. I got the listed shades above to get me through spring and summer!

5. Deborah Lippman Cuticle Cream: I also broke up with manicures by buying some cuticle cream.  I figured this wouldn’t be anything special but it is probably my favorite item from the bunch. The texture is my favorite and I’ve gone a month without a manicure and sad cuticles.

6. Oribe Royal Blowout Spray: Once upon a time I lived in a sorority house and could only store like 5 beauty products in the bathroom. Shockingly I think those were my best hair years? I decided to revert back to what I did then and this was one of the holy grail products. It is a bit expensive, but your hair blow dries incredibly straight and smooth [I have wavy, textured hair] and lasts months! This is the only product that gives me a blowout I can leave the house with.

7. Oribe Texturizer: This was another product from my sorority house days and really extends your style by giving you a good two more days of messy waves. Spray on before and after you curl for lots of volume.

8. Summer Sandals: I’ve worn these 3 times a week since I purchased them and they still look brand new!

9. Mizzen + Main Spring Giveaway: Planning our honeymoon and future trips is the only thing giving me motivation to get my rear up at 6 a.m. to run. I wanted to share the opportunity with you all to travel and win a fun goodie bag! Mizzen + Main is partnering with some amazing companies to give you a $1,000 travel voucher along with:

  1. It seems like whenever I try and do the responsible thing and not purchase any more beauty products for a while, they come out with so many fun things that I want!! Life is too short not to buy the lipstick right?! I love the Deborah Lippman nail polishes!! They are amazing!

Just got some nail polish over the weekend too, but I’m pretty sure they would not last 5 days if I do my nails!! I don’t think we have Deborah Lippman in Canada, or at least not that I have seen, but the shades look beautiful.

I have got to try that cuticle cream! I haven’t had a professional manicure in years because the polish never stayed on more than a week and I just couldn’t justify the price when I realized how much extra money that would add to my shoe shopping fund
