After being out of town the past two weekends, this homebody is excited to be in her own zip code for a few days! I’m going to see The Little Mermaid with one of my best friends at the Bass Hall [never grow up, y’all! Never grow up!] and head to a birthday brunch on Sunday. If I’m being 100% honest I’ll wear this dress to both. 😉 It’s true to size with a flattering v-neck cut and has a flirty hemline!

Here’s a few things on my mind this Friday:

1. Reading Nooks

Around Christmas Paul asked for a desk. A few months in we realized that having two desks in our home furthered our workaholic nature and didn’t make sense. If we are both working late at night, we’d much rather do it cozied up on the couch next to Peaches. Why nurture a habit that we need to break anyways?!  We sold his desk and decided to turn that little area into a reading nook. I have the chair, but I’m on the hunt for a perfect side table. I love all of these, so let me know which one you gravitate towards! I’d love the help! 🙂

2. Swim Suit Season

We’ve had amazing weather in Texas, which means we are about 2 weeks away from it being 115 degrees. For someone who can be in a pool half of the year, I have a love/hate relationship with swimsuits. I think one pieces are adorable but I can never splurge on swim suits that truly reflect my style. I either feel too preppy, too sporty or too bedazzled. Anyone else struggle with this?! Around the second week of May, I give up, make a huge Target haul and end up with 7 bikinis I hate all season. Then I donate them just as quickly as I purchased them. This year I’m trying to break that habit and slowly budget in better quality swimwear. I want to have pieces for years to come and bikinis I love grabbing. Here’s a few I love, but do you have any go-to brands?!

3. Texting Rules

I used to be a slave to my phone, and then about a year or so ago I started to implement some texting rules. When I’m with Paul, my phone is up. While I’m working my phone is up. If I’m with friends or family, my phone is up. I love it, but I always feel guilty later on. My standard text is 4 hours later:

“So sorry! Just now reading this, I was doing XYZ. I think that’s great. Etc. Etc.”

Do y’all have the same guilt? I always struggle with the politeness of it all. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

4. Living Room Updates

I’m convinced working from home and loving interior design is a deadly combination. When I worked in an office, I was never home! Now that I stare at the same little objects all day, my mind is always running with ideas! “Ooh, I could add in these pillows! What if I moved the candle over there? Or I could find a bright tray!”

I love saving up to change things around and Homegoods is my BFF for doing it all without breaking the bank. Lately, I’ve been dreaming of neutral velvet pillows and some fun trays for the coffee table. I love these little pieces for inspiration!

5. Caesar Salad

My last meal on earth would probably consist of a Caesar Salad with french fries. They are so bad for you, it’s honestly better to just order a burger without a bun! haha! But to show my love for them, last weekend we celebrated my birthday with my grandparents and they took me to an Italian place. What did I pick? A Caesar Salad. This one is made with kale and I feel like if I cut the croutons it would be a little less guilty! It’s on my list to make for Sunday night dinner!

Do you have any fun weekend plans?! Thanks so much for stopping by! Also, this weekend is when we are stopping ticket sales for our Blogger Q&A. If you still want to purchase you can here!

I’m from Florida (but I live in the mid cities now) so I also have a weird obsession with swimsuits. Victoria’s Secret Is one of my favorites for swimsuits! They usually have good specials too ?

Also, I am in the very beginning phases of starting a blog (literally, all I have is an about me section). I’ve been praying a lot and I really feel led to do this ! Do you think the q&a would be helpful for me? Or is it more for people who already have a blog that is up and going?
    Thanks!!

    Hey Katey, happy Friday!!
So count me in for a vote for the Anthropologie table…I am really drawn to the gold/marble combo lately! I’ve seen a lot of Ikea hacks where they’ve added marble contact paper to a shelf or table and it looks really darling. I am not crafty so I would not be able to make it look as good, I’d just let Anthro do the work for me 😛 However I also really love the detail on the third one from OKL. The bamboo legs are really fun!!

I don’t have any of her swimsuits, but I know people really love Mara Hoffman for classic, fun suits!

Also, if you wanted to do the kale caesar salad without the croutons, here is a recipe I’ve been eyeing that incorporates fried chickpeas for crunch instead of croutons. More protein so it’s another way to make caesar salad just a little healthier :)! http://www.averiecooks.com/2016/02/kale-caesar-salad-fried-chickpeas.html

  10. That dress is so gorgeous and you seriously ROCK the 70s flair!

As for swimsuits, I recently got one from La Blanca that’s similar to that black Vitamin A one-piece you linked above but it’s like $75 cheaper. It has a similar V-neck cutout and a super cool strappy back. You can get it at Nordstrom and I highly recommend it! It’s also really thick so it holds everything in 😉 Just be sure to go up a size because it does run small!

  12. I am totally the same about texting! And I hate that I have to explain myself! Like we should be able to live our lives and not explain them! But it’s hard when people get impatient and want answers right away.

And cutest dress! I love love love all the dresses you post and your happy pictures.

I completely agree!! It makes me so sad to think we are labeled as “rude” because we are giving the person in front of our face attention. I worry how it will be in our kid’s generation! 🙁

Ok, so many things. Dress – SO darling on you. Also, that pink lip color is always SO good on you and I think I need it too! Texting – YES. I’m constantly typing “SO sorry for my delayed response….” with so much guilt in my tummy! I worry about my future babies and what they will experience, too! Constantly re-decorating – ALWAYS. We need to start a support group! Swimsuits – what is it about Target that we just black out and end up with things that look so weird on?? I finally swore to myself that I wouldn’t do the same darn thing for our honeymoon and I had great luck with Victoria’s Secret and they’re not my usual go-to!

I could honestly comment on every thing you mentioned in here but I’ll leave it at that 😉

I hope the Caesar salad turns out well! Mixing it up with kale is actually my favorite modification for that salad. Definitely give Panera’s a try sometime!

This weekend my sweet little mom gets remarried! I can’t wait to be surrounded by all of our friends and family.

  16. Oh my gosh, I have the EXACT same problem with swim suits. I just threw out pretty much every one I had in an attempt to make myself splurge this year. I don’t know if it’ll work but it’s progress, I think?!

    Happy Friday!

    XOXO
