Father’s Day is a few weeks away and is it just me or do dads get the short end of the stick? Maybe it is because they never want anything [all my dad ever asks for is if we can all move away to a ranch in Hico, Texas #umyeahcantbuyyouthat] or maybe it is because if your dad is anything like mine he lives by, “Happy wife, happy life!”

My dad’s version of the best Father’s Day would be a day where all his girls [my mom, sister and I] are at the house and we let him grill out and serve us! haha. My parents have the most amazing marriage and I tell them all the time when my dad retires they need to do premarital counseling! They both love serving one another and making the other person happy. Over Memorial Day Weekend they literally were arguing over who could serve dessert to the other person.

“No, honey! Sit! Let me serve you! Seriously!”

“No, Don! Sweetie, you made lunch. You should relax! I can do this for you!”

“I relax when you relax!”

“But I can’t relax if you aren’t relaxing! Just come sit with me!”

And my sister and I are just sitting thinking, “I mean either of you are more than welcome to hand us a strawberry shortcake. I won’t mind who it is!” haha!

I’m not even kidding…they act that way ALL THE TIME. I feel so thankful to have grown up watching a marriage like that in such a close family.

Because my dad loves spoiling his girls he really never wants anything, but his closet says otherwise. His 14-year old cargo shorts and $20 tennis shoes that I have upgraded EACH CHRISTMAS [he doesn’t think he needs new ones if the sole hasn’t broken] scream, “Please upgrade me.”

I thought I’d share three gifts you could give your dad for Father’s Day that he will actually get excited over and will ask for for holidays to come!

1.Update Office Photos

Every single time I go into my dad’s office at work I nearly go into cardiac arrest, which would require me to visit a doctor. It’s as if he thought every photo of me going through puberty needed to be on display in a 30×40 frame. I shudder and think, “People see these? Daily.” And I’m not one to mind old photos…but that is just how bad they are! haha.

Update your dad’s old photos of you and him in some sleek silver frames from Homegoods. Homegoods always has the best deals on frames and I was more than excited to fill some with updated wedding photos. The black and white photo pictured is my favorite of my dad and I! It was from my aunt and uncle’s wedding and you can see how alike we look in it! His name is “JD” [nickname is Don] and everyone used to call me “little JDeanna.” I would cry and cry and cry because I thought that meant I looked like a boy. But now that I’m older I love seeing how similar we are!

2. Shirts He’ll Actually Want

I always feel bad just getting my dad plain shirts. That’s what my mom says he needs, but I feel like it’s never really that special. When I lived in Dallas I was introduced to Mizzen + Main and have shared their shirts so many times on the blog and with hosting events! However, I haven’t shared in awhile so I thought I’d introduce some new readers to dress shirts that are anything but boring. Paul asks for these so often he is like a little kids on a road trip asking, “Are we there yet?!”

Here is what makes these shirts unique:

1.No Dry Cleaning Required [that’s not normal for dress shirts!]

2. They Stretch 4 Different Ways [i.e. no wrinkles!]

3.Moisture Wicking [Men sweat, a lot. Let’s not rub it in.]

4. Because of the Stretch, they fit all Body Types

Paul is long and lean and these mens shirts – wisconline.co.uk fit him, no tailoring required. If your dad likes to eat some Texas BBQ more times than he’d care to admit, it’s great too! These fit every single body type because of the 4-way stretch and don’t wrinkle regardless. I showed above how you can wad these shirts up and they’ll still look great for work. My dad travels a lot for work, so this solves that issue!

My dad went to Auburn- War Eagle! – so I got him The Charleston in cobalt and orange as well as a traditional Manhattan solid white shirt.

Not to sound silly, but I’m a huge believer in these shirts and because men can’t mess them up [no sweat stains, no wrinkles, no dry cleaning] they are the type that they ask for over and over again. Paul wears his all the time and my dad always asks if he can have one too! If your dad or beau is more casual, they have more options here.

3. Bed & Breakfast for Dad & Mom

This may seem like an idea more suited for their anniversary, but the way you love my dad is by loving my mom. He seriously adores my mom so much that he can’t just enjoy a holiday that is all about himself. Because schedules are difficult, give them a coupon redeemable for a Bed & Breakfast at any time! Offer to watch their dogs, house sit, etc. One night at a B&B can actually be pretty affordable and we just print something out on photoshop that says mom and dad are able to choose one night’s stay at location you choose! Then they can set it up on their own schedule but leave your card with the B&B and have them call your dad on Monday after Father’s Day to schedule their stay. That way he can’t get out of trying to pay for it!

Do you have any ways you like to spoil your dad for Father’s Day or fun traditions?!

Love this Charleston shirt! My husband and I met at Auburn – War Eagle!! – and with his birthday around the corner I need 1 or 2 more small gifts for him and this would be the perfect balance of a work shirt and a gameday shirt!
