Beauty Haul on Sale!

Happy Thursday, babes! Today I wanted to share a beauty haul from shopping the Nordstrom sale last week. I’ve had these goodies for a week and they’ve survived long hours at a bachelorette party and 107-degree heat {oh yes, we currently have a heat advisory all week. boo!}, so I figured I could do a review! 😉

My In-Store Purchases

  1. GHD Platinum 1.25 Inch Straightener {on sale $166//after sale $249}: My straightener broke about a month ago, so I was excited I could grab this as part of the sale. Two things I really like about this straightener: the plates keep the heat the entire length of your hair and it doesn’t compromise volume. Did you know most straightener plates don’t hold the same temperature of heat from the moment you clamp down to the moment you get to the end of your hair? This is why you keep going over the same piece and then end up with breakage. This one has three sensors so it keeps the same temperature! I also noticed that something about the curved edge allows your hair to keep the volume which I love!
  2. Valentina Pink Eau de Parfum Set {on sale $122 // $150 value}: So y’all know my husband is super laid back and that’s one thing I adore about him! I could feed him a burnt casserole and he’ll tell me it’s the best thing he has ever tasted. #PrayOurKidsGetHisPersonality. I digress. With his temperament, he also is not the kind of guy to say he likes or dislikes things. I think he has told me once he didn’t like the tall gladiator sandals?! But that’s it. Needless to say, if he compliments something I wear or have I know he really likes it. In one week he has made at least 9 or 10 comments on this perfume and I wasn’t even home for 2 whole days. He keeps saying, “Is that your new perfume? It’s so good. I love it. Is it on sale? Buy more!” I mean here I am thinking I need to give my other perfumes to my sister because my husband is so obsessed with this scent on me. ha. It’s a fruity, floral scent and I really like it for summer!
  3. Bobbi Brown Deluxe Eye & Cheek Set {on sale $98 // $380 value}: Each sale I typically get my mom the Bobbi Brown palette as they do a fabulous one each year! This year I got it for myself and I love it. This is a palette with cooler-toned neutrals and plum shades, so it is great for green eyes. I’ll share swatches below, too. It also comes with 4 cheek shades, a bronzer, a bronzing highlight {I use as a blush} and two blushes. The rose gold case it comes in is so good for travel. You know how some cases products come in are pretty flimsy?! I would buy this one separately if I could. Bobbi Brown was the first makeup I was ever allowed to wear and so naturally, I always have such a soft spot for the brand. I also love how her shadows wear. You can get a very day appropriate look without aggressive pigmentation, but they just fade so softly 12 hours in. You don’t get anything splotchy or patchy, just the softest shadow color and I love the brand for that.
  4. MAC Nude Lip Trio {on sale: $36 // $54 value}: I’m very into lip cocktails! I can’t just use one lipstick. No, I have to be absurd and mix two with a gloss. I think it allows you to make the pigment blend with your skin tone and personalizes your look. I was so excited to see that MAC essentially gave you your own lip cocktail with two nudes that blend beautifully and a gloss. I have pictures below of the look!
  5. Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body XL Shimmer Shape, Hydrate & Glow {on sale: $75 // $214 value}: This is a product I have used well over a year and it is magic for the skin. I’ve blogged it before, but essentially it just smooths you and looks like almost a bronzey foundation for the skin- but it is lotion. Don’t think pigmented, just think glow! I have a swatch below to help explain. You can apply it directly and I love to do that on my legs and collarbones for a date night. However, I have a hack I’ll share below for your inexpensive lotions!

MAC Nude Lip Trio

Here is the lip trio swatched! On the left, you have the gloss, in “BodyCon” which is a creamy beige. In the middle, is “Love Drought” and on the right is “Pretty Natural.” I apply this by putting Pretty Natural all over my lip, then I let it set for about 30 seconds. Next, I take Love Drought in the middle of my pout on top lip and bottom lip. The goal here is for Pretty Natural to act as a bit of a lip liner. I wait another 30 seconds for it to set and then apply the gloss all over! See the finished look below.

I spy a little munchkin trying to get into mommy’s things. 😉

Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body XL Shimmer Shape, Hydrate & Glow

Here’s a swatch of the Supermodel Body lotion! It’s almost like a glowy filter for the skin. It’s to the body what this product I love is for the face. You can apply it on the legs, arms, décolletageOR try my hack below.

I always save my empty Tula moisturizer jars and I repurpose them for travel beauty products. They are perfect for it! Use an inexpensive lotion that you love and put about 3/4 of the amount in the jar. Then fill the rest with about 10 pumps of the Supermodel Body lotion. Mix {I use these skincare brushes} and then take when you travel on vacation for the perfect moisturizer that will cover any splotches if your spray tan is fading! You can also do this just for day-to-day in a larger jar, but this my favorite little travel hack.

Bobbi Brown Deluxe Eye & Cheek Set

Saved my favorite product for last! Below are up-close shots and swatches of the palette.

I use the bronzer to contour and then I mix the two right shades as a blush! The left blush is one I’ll use in the fall and winter when I don’t self-tan as much.

I didn’t intend on posting such an awkward photo-ha! But, I wanted to share the eye look in natural light after running errands all day. So just excuse the awkward shot in my car. The things you’ll do for an eyeshadow palette review, right?!

My Online Purchases

Neulash Serum {on sale $150 // $245 value}: Y’all know I live by my Neulash serum. I don’t use last extensions and just preach this product. I try to convert everyone. ha! I buy it during the Nordstrom sale and these two tubes will generally last me until the next sale or at least until next April or May.

Supergoop! Sunscreen Trio {on sale $38 // $57 value}: Supergoop! is the sunscreen I use and so I bought this trio as I can use it to quickly spray in the mornings before I take Maxi and Peaches on a walk.

Trish McEvoy Sunlit Glamour Brush Collection {on sale $185 // $315 value}: This was definitely a splurge, *but* I loved that this is a brush collection I can take on the go. I shoot for the blog about twice a week and so I’m always getting ready in my car. Sometimes I’ll take a cup of brushes to touch up my look and it just makes my car so messy. After almost 5 years of blogging- I’d say I am glad I bought this! ha. I think this will also make travel packing a breeze as I can just pack this set and not deal with grabbing from my GLAMbox.

Did you buy any beauty products from the sale?

  1. I’ve got to try out the Neulash Serum! It sounds like a miracle worker, and since I’m Asian, I need all the help I can get with my lashes! 🙂

I am eyeing that Bobbi Brown palette! It would be perfect for my skin tones and eyes. Thanks for the review!
On a little different note.. my guy sounds a lot like Paul being laid back and only complimenting when he really likes something. It’s been a learning a curve for our relationship to accept how he shows his love language not with words but in his own way. Just wanted to say I loved your post on your husband this week, I screen shot some quotes :).

Hi! Do you know any difference between the NeuLash or Revitalash? Just curious! Didn’t know if Your Derm recommended NeuLash? And have you heard of castor oil for lash growth!?

Hi Katherine! They are pretty much the same- I just use Neulash and know more people that use it. But I think Revitalash would work the same if it works for you! 🙂 In terms of Castor oil- yes! I always tell my pregnant or nursing readers to use that. It’s great but it’s not going to work *as strong* as serums because it’s a natural product. I hope that helps girl! Xo, katey
