January Radar

The Details

Sweater | Headband, Similar | Bag | Jeans | Similar Boots | Photography by: Angie Garcia

Feels like we made it through 18 months of January! Since this seemed like such a long month, I thought it was only fitting to share what was on my radar this month- the “little happies” I always mention. Finding the joy in a grocery store find or the smallest daily activity makes winter not seem so brutal. 😉

But first,  let’s talk about this outfit! I am all for a sleeve moment and think it’s a sure way to dress up a wardrobe staple item, like a camel sweater. This one runs true to size and had me feeling quite Blair Waldorf. I paired this pearl headband with the look, and I know 2019 is the year I’ll bring back my inner 6th grade Katey and rock headbands. They are on trend for the year and this one doesn’t give a headache at all! My girlfriend, Ashley, gave me the headband for Christmas, but if you want to try the trend for less, grab this one! Here are two other ways I styled the headband:

January Songs on Repeat

Sweater | Headband {same brand and style, similar colors} | Earrings {c/o}

You Say- Lauren Daigle

Yellow-Emmit Fenn

Beyond-Leon Bridges

Keep on Loving You- Matt Kearney

None of these are really new by any means, but this is what I have playing while I’m working or cleaning up the house!

January Eats

Sweater, Similar Sweater | Earrings | Bracelet | Lipstick {Patina}

Starbucks Drink:

Venti Passion Tango Tea, No Sweetener, 2 Pumps of Sugar-Free Vanilla, Splash of Coconut Milk

*Be sure to say splash! I didn’t once or twice and the entire cup ends up being coconut milk! lol!*

Maxi’s Favorite Trader Joe’s Item:

I’ve shared before that Maxi can be pretty picky with meat! She loves the “Breaded Chicken Tenderloin Breasts” from Trader Joe’s! I put them in pasta with peas for her or you can put a little marinara sauce on them and make them a chicken parmesan dish. I’ll also slice them and put them on top of a salad with spinach, cherry tomatoes, and a honey mustard dressing. And she’ll eat a lot of the salad part because she likes these tenders so much!

My Favorite Trader Joe’s Snack:

I can’t get enough of the Trader Joe’s Balela! I can eat a tub in two days. I eat it by itself or I’ll dip Mary’s Crackers in it for my lunch.

Favorite Family Meal:

My girlfriend, Diana, got me hooked on this chili! I made it for our family and Paul couldn’t stop raving about it. Then, I made it for my sister and her roommate and they loved it! It’s spicy and sweet, but you can control the level of spice, and it didn’t bother Maxi. Now, she’s not a huge chili/soup girl just yet. I think the whole concept confuses her a tad bit. But she’ll try it and that’s all I can ask for! haha.

January Affordable Finds

If you love the glitter or star sneaker trend, but don’t want to spend designer, there are some more affordable options out there! I just ordered these from Amazon and did size up as most reviews said. I also ordered this leopard option and went with a 38 {I’m normally a 7}. I think some sassy sneakers are the perfect way to end out winter while getting ready for spring! I’ll wear these shoes with cotton dresses come March and April.

January Workout Finds

Leggings, Leggings | Jacket | Tank | Bag | Sneakers {old}

If you don’t have these Spanx camo leggings, you are missing out! I wore these at least 2 or 3 times a week this month and always worked out in them. I am normally an XS in leggings but get a S in Spanx. With this style, you really get a two-look-in-one situation as these are fabulous for working out, but you can also throw on a black tunic over them and go to dinner. Because Spanx fits so well and gives you the thickness of Lululemon and the comfortability of loungewear, I felt so spoiled and would try on other leggings, take them off, and put these back on! ha.

Things for February

Sweater | Slippers | Leggings

  • For my quiet time in February, I ordered this book on prayer by Tim Keller. I had kind of started the year with a bit of an unrealistic {in this season of life} devotional routine. Where I was trying to read all these different devotionals that had been recommended to me. So I’d have these 4 books out and Maxi would be grabbing the other ones and trying to color in them. Still trying to figure out how I thought she wouldn’t grab all the other ones?! haha. So anyway, I decided to start something fresh for February and I can’t wait to read!
  • For my girls that love the TULA Acne Gel {see my review here} it is BACK IN STOCK!! I had so many of you asking when it would come back, so I’m thrilled to share it is here! Grab it for February!

In My Cart for February

Earrings | Sweater | Maxi’s Outfit

  1. I’m a sucker for anything pink {see major earrings above!}, so I already ordered these pink workout capri leggings!
  2. Once spring hits, I feel like I can rarely find the right flat. Leather feels a bit too warm in Texas and so I end up wearing sandals 24/7. I grabbed these buckle mules and went up half a size.  The texture looks perfect for spring and summer and would pair perfectly with white jeans.
  3. The rainbow ring trend is having a major moment and I love the statement size of this one. I ordered it and can’t wait for it to come in!
  4. I ordered this car for Maxi’s baby dolls as her birthday gift! I think it’s a toy she’ll use for years to come, but I have even caught her now putting her babies in little baskets and pushing them around going, “Beep beep!” So I think she should love it!

I hope you all have a great weekend- I’d love to know what was on your radar for January!

  2. Katey, can I just say I LOVE your sweater in the first photos? The sleeves are super cute! I’ve been looking for a sweater like that for the longest time – in the same shade, too – so this is great! 🙂
