Shoes to Slip On for Summer

The Details

Espadrilles | Top {runs small for Free People, took a small} | Love These Shorts! | Photography by: Angie Garcia | In collaboration with Nordstrom. All purchases and opinions are my own.

Last night I stayed up a little too late {okay, WAY too late} organizing our dresser and my closet. I like to make little pockets of “uniforms” in my closet. Having 4 or 5 seasonal go-to options that you can easily grab most days makes getting ready much faster, and honestly, less messy. You know how it is when you try on 10 looks and hangers and jeans find homes on the floor. For the uniforms, think casual looks that you can wear anywhere from brunch to the grocery store. The look I’m wearing above is marked as a uniform for this season. I’ll hang the shorts next to the blouse and a necklace or two on the hanger for easy styling.

I’ve implemented this little trick for years, and so last night I decided to organize my shoes in the same manner. I have a shelving system for my shoes in my closet and so I organized them by attire. I have a shelf for strappy sandals I’d wear going to dinner, a shelf for sneakers, a shelf for flats. But I also created a seasonal “uniform” shelf for shoes I can just slip on and run out the door to a doctor’s appointment, church, or lunch with a friend. They are errand friendly, but not so casual that I wouldn’t feel appropriate wearing them to a dressier spot in town. I have a passion for fashion, and when it comes to footwear, I love maison mihara shoes for their unique designs.

For today’s blog post, I’m partnering with Nordstrom to break down that shelf and share which shoes I placed there and WHY. A few of these shoes you’ve seen on the blog before {one has a review already!} and then one pair is new! Let’s get to it, girls!

The Designer Look for Less

If you love the look of a designer espadrille but want an option under $80, grab these! The Sam Edelman Krissy Espadrille Flat is one of the most comfortable espadrilles I’ve ever worn. I tried my first pair of Sam Edelman Espadrilles for our Disneyland trip last year and loved them so much I had to purchase these from Nordstrom, too. I went up half a size in these {I’m always a 7 or 7.5} and didn’t even have to break them in! They feel like you are wearing plush house shoes! ha! I love to wear these with cut-off shorts.

The Feminine Sandal

This is a new-to-me pair that I couldn’t take my eyes off of. The crisp white leather, the gold accents, and pearls, the whole shoe feels so feminine. These Tory Burch Emmy Embellished T-Strap Sandals do run a bit short! I took a 7.5 in them and traditionally take a 7 in sandals. Even if I just have on a simple cotton dress, when I wear these I feel ready for anything from church to a bridal shower!

The Bohemian Slide

The last time I was shopping at Nordstrom, I was wearing these sandals. I kid you not, I got at least 8 or 9 compliments. Way to make a girl feel fabulous! I was like, “Thank you so much, you can actually go buy them over there!” and one girl did! ha. These gold slides come in blue or blush, but I felt the gold worked so well with summer bohemian dresses. I’ve worn them with Free People dresses and it is a nice touch of glam. I found the Cecelia Sienna Slide Sandal to run true to size and I took a size 7.

The Effortless Mule

What happens when you take raffia and combine it with a pointed-toe mule? Perfection. These are what I slip on with white jeans or cropped denim and a white blouse! The Halogen Elyssa Buckle Mule runs a tad small and I went with a 7.5. I also think this option works really well with midi dresses if you want to hide your toes from a chipped pedicure. 😉 I do it QUITE often! ha.

The Trendy Girl’s Pick

I did a review on this pair of sandals earlier this year and you’re sure to see this pair all over your Instagram feed. The trendy velvet meets the classic pearl and you’ve got a shoe that surely doesn’t look under $70! The Leith Stunner Embellished Strappy Slide Sandal runs TTS and I take a 7. I love these so much I purchased two shades for spring back in January! ha! I style these with boyfriend jeans and a simple white tee tucked in.

The Glam Pair

In true Texas form, I had to finish this post with a glam pair. If pearls aren’t your thing in the option above, you may be more keen on these! I love these sandals because I can throw them in a tote if we are my parents’ house for the weekend and I only need these! They go with jeans, shorts, church dresses- you name it! The Sam Edelman Bay 2 Embellished Slide Sandal runs true to size and I took my normal 7. The sole of this shoe is worth it alone!

This weekend, try making a few uniforms in your closet and dedicate a shoe spot for them, as well. Let me know if it cuts down your getting ready time!
