Your Favorite Looks from Last Week

The Details

Black Dress | White Top

Good morning, my friends! We had such a fun weekend for Maxi. On Friday, our downtown area was having a National Donut Day event. Naturally, we had to take Maxi. I mean we were being selfless parents since we got to eat donuts and all. ha! Saturday, we took her to a Little Gym class, breakfast, and swimming with friends. Sunday, we had church, a birthday party at a splash pad, and a bounce house event with our church in our neighborhood. I set my alarm for 5 this morning and somehow I slept through that. Go figure. 😉 It was a wonderful weekend seeing Maxi enjoy every single second and I hope you experienced a lovely one as well. Now that I write it out I’m thinking, “How on earth did you think your body wouldn’t sleep in?!” I even diffused Roman Chamomile oils last night- like CLEARLY, I didn’t need any oils to help me sleep. Rookie mistake.

Today, I wanted to share some looks that I shared via Instagram last week. These feature two affordable wardrobe staples to add to your closet this summer. Whether you never shy away from trying the latest trend or you are more of a wardrobe capsule kind of girl, I think all will find use from these items.

First up, this bell-sleeve top. Do y’all remember last winter when I lived in my black one? Need a refresher?

Here, here, here, and here.

I wore that top incessantly, but it wasn’t a budget find by any means and I didn’t have it in an option for summer. Enter this top-it is $32 and comes in white AND black, so you can wear it year round! I styled it in tie shorts, but my sister also borrowed it and wore it with boyfriend jeans and mules. I plan on wearing it with my pink skirt from last week here. You could also pair it with a pencil skirt or these pants for the office.

Sizing Note: This top runs a bit snug in the chest. I would size up! I prefer the medium on myself.

Now that we’ve covered a blouse you can style for each occasion and season, let’s touch on a summer LBD. Summer isn’t necessarily the time we always think of needing an LBD, but I am here to argue that. If you have a date night in the summer and know the spot is a bit dressier {think steakhouse}, but it’s 100 degrees outside and you refuse to rock something sticky and fitted- think of an LBD. Or what about when you have your hair up in a top knot and need a dress that steals the show for a party at a friend’s house? Or what if you have a couples’ baby shower that is at a venue? Grab a summer LBD. This eyelet option is $36 and has an ultra-flattering fit thanks to the longer off-the-shoulder ruffle.

I paired mine with rainbow wedges that run TTS. My favorite part about this dress is that it allows your shoes and accessories to show off, which is something I’m all about lately. I’m on a neutral outfit kick and then letting my shoes or earrings steal the show. Plus, it’s been a great excuse to wear a ponytail and not style my hair. 😉

Sizing Note: This dress runs a tad large, so I’m wearing an xs and found that to fit great.

Which neutral pick would you prefer in your closet?! I hope the start of your week is blissful and not stressful and someone treats you to your coffee today!
