What to Wear Trick-Or-Treating with Your Kids

The Details

With the first fire going of the season and a Bridget Jones marathon, I think it’s officially time to do a blog post on a sweater you’ll wear on repeat. Even more specifically, I think this is the perfect option to wear for Halloween fun with your little ones. Add some cat ears, draw some whiskers, and you are still dressed for the holiday while staying comfortable and true to your style.

This plaid cardigan is a great Walmart find {$22!} and it also comes in winter white/oatmeal colorway, as well. I paired this with a statement bootie that is very easy to walk in thanks to the block heel. They’ve got a bit of texture to them to break up the all-black ensemble. But for daily wear, I’d wear this cardigan over jeans, a white tucked in tee, and statement sneakers. It’s got a great amount of warmth to it, so it can act as a jacket on a chilly Halloween night. To dress the cardigan up, wear it over a fitted dress, and belt it at the waist with a thin belt like this.

If you think a black sweater can be a little edgier than you prefer, I love that the mix of grey tones in this sweater calms it down. I placed a bulk order of sweaters from Walmart before styling this post and ultimately selected this one because I felt many of you could take it to your office and use it if your workspace or classroom got chilly this time of year. It can be worn with black work pants or denim and keeps you warm.

Another easy way to find some statement sweaters from Walmart is to shop their trend page. They break down everything you’ll want that month, so browse it here.

Here are my picks from that selection.

We had a whirlwind weekend of birthday parties and pumpkin festivities. We started with pumpkin carving Thursday night, and while I was right to assume Maxi wouldn’t be the biggest fan of “pumpkin guts” she was so proud of her masterpiece once carved. She kept clapping her hands saying, “I did it!” And she gets a kick out of lighting it each night on our front porch. But after many birthday parties this weekend, this mama is worn out! Who knew children’s birthday parties would be more tiring than adult birthday dinners?! ha. I hit snooze at least 3 times on my alarm this morning and only have birthday cake and face painting festivities to blame.

This weekend we are actually taking Maxi to the ballet as they are having a toddlers and tutus event on Saturday. I absolutely can’t wait! Did you do anything fun this weekend?

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today!
