Last week we headed off to Hill Country and stayed at the JW Marriot there. We wanted to get the kids some pool time before it got unbearably hot and humid. We brought my mom with us as well, because in Maxi’s eyes it is no vacation if Gigi isn’t there. 😉 Our kids love a road trip (we are driving to Colorado next week!) and it was a lovely way to start summer.

A few of you reached out and asked how the JW was compared to prior stays. I don’t think they are at full capacity, most pool chairs were open. In previous stays, we always had to hunt a good chair down! Our waiter told me that they are short-staffed, but he said they were being paid double to accommodate and we never noticed a major shortage. They just started room service again, but it’s not how it usually is. They leave a bag outside your room with the food, there are a limited number of options, and it’s more fast-food style. Totally understandable, but if you do go, just make a mental note of that! We all know with little kids swimming that fall asleep early, you want to know how to plan out dinner options. And yes, the breakfast buffet is now open! I’m not even a big fan of buffets- but I make an exception at the JW and The Broadmoor because those breakfast buffets are what they serve in heaven. I’m sure of it. The. Pecan. Rolls. So good! If you haven’t been and have little ones, put this on your short list! It’s our favorite little weekend spot with kids in Texas. I think in Texas you either love La Cantera or you love JW and we are JW fans with the kids! It’s so easy, you just show up. As moms that have to plan each detail of a trip, it’s nice to have an easy place to just go and not plan anything.

My mom put the kids down and stayed in the room with them one night while we ran off to a little date. You all recommended Supper at Hotel Emma, and it was incredible!

This girl is a fish! She would swim for 8 hours and still be sad to leave the pool and go up to the room. ha.
