Recent Summer Looks

Next week, we are headed for a quick little family getaway. We will be going to The Broadmoor in about 2 weeks, but we wanted the kids to get some Texas sunshine before. We thought it was the perfect way to celebrate Harry turning one! I am packing my suitcase with quite a few colorful finds, and as I was sorting through my closet I thought I’d share a few recent summer looks. Most of these are quite affordable, too!

Skirt {tts} | Similar Top | Similar GG | Belt

I wore this skirt on Monday to film a  little home decor IGTV we’ll be sharing soon, and I loved it! It’s the perfect length and stretch- which is saying something because as a mom of 2, I can list many complaints about skirts with little ones. I could pick my kids up without feeling like it was a bit too short, it’s fitted, but also has stretch so you can easily move. A Goldilocks 10/10 situation for me. Pair it with your favorite white or black tee.

Jeans {go down 1 size} | Tank {go up one size, I wear this tank under} | Sandals {old but similar} | Bag

You all know my loyalty to Sofia Vergara denim. I think they are one of the best-priced denim you can find online. And this tank is probably my favorite Walmart find, ever. It is more of a crochet style, so you can wear it over shorts and a one-piece, or you can throw it on over a tank with wide-legged denim as I have here.

Tank | Sports Bra | Leggings

I’m in workout clothes at least half the week, and I’ve never found a workout tank that is the right crop for skorts, high-waisted leggings, and workout shorts. I had actually had this tank in my cart quite a few times, finally ordered, and now I need it in more colors. It’s cropped but ends right where your high-waisted pieces would begin. It is a rare occasion I buy new workout clothing {most of my workout pieces have been stretched out with 2 pregnancies! So I find them far too comfy to part with. 😉 } so when I rave about it, you know I’m committed.

Top | SkirtSimilar GG

Smocked tops. Smocked dresses. Smocked skirts. While this summer’s trend might have you thinking it’s like pulling from a Southern toddler’s closet, don’t hate on it too quickly. It’s so comfortable and flattering! Plus, there are no easier dresses to nurse in, I promise! Smocked skirts can be a little overpriced for my taste, but this one from Walmart is not! You can even style it with the crochet tank from above, or a tied-up tee.

Dress {TTS} | Top {runs large} | Bag | Similar GG

I call this the wildcard look, but there are three reasons I adore it:

  1. If you’re pregnant, you need this dress. It’s a look-for-less to a $200 option.
  2. This dress cuts at just the right part! I could rant over how I think tops go too far into the chest with their cut- what bra is one supposed to wear?! This cuts right by the underarm, so you can easily wear any bra you have.
  3. Like all honest outfit tales, I saw a girl wear a band tee over a tie-dye dress as I walked out of the nail salon two weeks ago and I couldn’t get over how cute her look was. So here I am, clicking “Add to cart” rocking a baby at 3 a.m. Honesty is the best policy.

Dress {TTS} | Bag | Sandals

This dress marries the softness of a t-shirt with the structure of a blouse. It isn’t flimsy, but it isn’t heavy- the best of both worlds! I have been wearing it a lot with my favorite braided pigtails and it’s one of those looks you throw on quickly, but feel dressed up the rest of the day.
