A Blouse for Work and Weekend

The Details

Top {wearing size 2} | Blazer {size 2} | Jeans, These are the Coated Ones, Similar in Black| Sneakers | photography by: Angie Garcia | In partnership with Nordstrom. All opinions are my own!

It’s rare for me to find a flowy button up shirt that could be worn to a holiday party, a work event, or a casual weekend brunch. I’m all about getting as much use out of my clothes as possible- which is why I love to blog pieces I’ve had for years. In fact, the houndstooth skirt above in the photos is what I wore the night I got engaged. I purchased that 6 or 7 years ago. It’s sentimental and I still feel as excited to wear it as the first day I purchased it, months {to a year} before we got engaged. As you invest in classic pieces that still feel original to your personal style, don’t skim over this blouse. This high-neck blouse is from Nordstrom and you’ll wear it into spring and early summer, as well.

With a ruffle collar, romantic shoulders, and a subtle print it is one that will last in your closet for years upon years- not just one season.

  • Style it with a blazer and pencil skirt or pants for work. Above I threw over a houndstooth blazer my shoulders to show how you can even layer a print on this top because this monochromatic print is so subtle.
  • Tuck it in jeans for the weekend. I’m wearing coated jeans just to show how you can get a little bit more edgy with this look, but this top will pair seamlessly with regular-wash denim and sneakers. It CAN be dressed down yet still maintaining that Streetwear vibe, just throw a denim jacket on top  and you’re weekend ready.
  • My favorite way to style this top will definitely be with a skirt and over-the-knee boots for fall. I would wear it with my houndstooth skirt I wore when we got engaged. Here are some options below to help you complete this look.

I’d love to know if you would wear this blouse to work or a holiday party! Plus, a high-neck blouse CALLS for a high ponytail. And I’ll take ANY excuse to an extra day with dry shampoo. 😉

Have a happy weekend, friends!

  1. Cute! I feel like blouses with a little structure, yet are still whimsical, are super on-trend right now! Love your outfit! ❤️✨
