And Baby Makes 5

Well, hello! Remember me, friends?! Does an apology even start here?! I have never taken such a lapse in posting in eleven years of blogging! You’d think having intense morning sickness twice, I’d be able to handle it. But I was a shell of a human from late fall to February and never really came up for air. So, while I’d gather 99% of you already know the wonderful news from Instagram….we are having another baby!

Paul and I always pictured three children, but after Harry’s pregnancy, I didn’t even think of the topic. People would ask if we wanted another, and I about fainted. When an MFM gives your child a 9 out of 10 chance of NOT making it, you just don’t even let your mind go there. But when Harry was turning two, I couldn’t let the feeling go. I remember praying for months before even broaching the subject with Paul. We went to my doctor and went through lots and lots of bloodwork and tests to see, was this a freak thing? Genetic? Etc. We got the “all clear” that we could safely carry another pregnancy, and God blessed us with a pregnancy about a year later.

This pregnancy has not been without hiccups like Maxi’s, but it has not been nearly as frightening as Harry’s. It’s felt both redeeming and humbling all at the same time. My placenta did have a hemorrhage this time around, but absolutely nothing in comparison. We did have about a 10-week period, we thought it was impacting his growth, but as of yesterday, he is in the 61st percentile and thriving. I joke I suppose my boys just like to test my nerves in the womb. While this is more than you probably care to know, I know so many of you were there when I shared Harry’s pregnancy, and so it feels a miss to not share God’s work with online friends.

I was the sickest this pregnancy, and the COF pause wasn’t intentional (I really thought I’d feel better to post after Christmas break), but once I started to function better, we went into full wedding celebratory mode for my sister. She gets married so soon (we have days!!) and it has been the most beautiful season. I wish I had $1 for any time someone made a jarring comment of disgust that I’m pregnant while my sister is getting married- I’d be retired on a private island by now! 😉 But with us sharing a 7-year gap, it’s been the most lovely picture of life and family. She is the reason my heart yearned for more. The love, loyalty, and bond we share is something I want my children to have as much of as possible! Motherhood is the most fulfilling thing I have ever done and the absolute miracle it is to carry, birth, and raise a child is never lost on me. I am aware that one day, I won’t be the center of my children’s lives. They will go on to have their own, but if they can always know that aside from their mother and father, they have two other secret keepers, confidants, and best friends that will forever carry as much understanding for them as possible….well, they will have hit the jackpot in life! Family is everything to me and I am so thankful to be adding a precious baby boy to ours later this summer.

Thank you all for your love and support!
