My Favorite Amazon Purchases of 2018

Well, I wouldn’t be properly recapping 2018 if I didn’t give a shoutout to the store that allows me to THRIVE AND BE ALIVE- aka, Amazon. I seriously live for reading other people’s Amazon obsessions, it’s like a “What’s in my bag” but better because it’s unpredictable. Most people have roughly the same bag contents, but Amazon… I mean is Sheryl going to be ordering glass straws and rosehip oil or is she more of a highlighter and mason jar type of girl? One just never knows. Unless you are spilling the details…here are mine. 😉

1. Pant Hangers

I’ve talked about these a lot on the blog, so forgive me, but I had to brag on them again. If you only splurge on one organizational item for your closet- let this be it! My jeans are sorted, lie perfectly thin, stay wrinkle-free, and allow me to fit way more in my closet than I previously could. You can see the hangers here in use here.

2. Tamanu Oil

I’ve shared a lot more lately about my eczema and the annoyance it can be! A lot of times, prescription creams do not work on my skin and then you’ve got the factor of, “You can only use XYZ cream for this many days or weeks or it thins the skin.” I feel like I have tried just about everything and honestly, Tamanu Oil is probably what helps the most! I get the organic oil from Amazon and put it all over my arms and legs. It is so soothing! Oddly enough, my eczema doesn’t really itch that much {are we really getting there and going super TMI?! Yes, we are.} but it always feels irritated, and this calms it! I also feel like my skin just looks all around healthier when I use this at night and wake up in the morning. P.S. you’ll want to wear sweats to bed or longer pants/tops because this can be greasy and the smell is NOT the best. But if you have bad eczema you know that if someone told you bathing in the blood of cockroaches worked, you’d do it. ha!

3. Natural Calm

Because I typically work right before I go to bed, I have a hard time turning my brain off! Chamomile tea doesn’t calm me quite enough, but if I take melatonin I have at least 4 nightmares, barely hear the baby monitor, and feel so tired I think I’m ill come 7 am. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but melatonin only does me well if I can sleep in and when would that happen with a toddler?! I started to take Natural Calm at the beginning of the year and it’s amazing! It’s a natural magnesium supplement {magnesium can be great for sleep} and you just sip on it as a tea. Boil some water, put the instructed amount of powder in your water, stir, sip, you’ll feel peaceful and ready to snooze in 30 minutes. I use the gummies while traveling and Paul will have you know, he prefers those. They taste like a Sour Patch Kid. As for the taste, it kind of tastes like a hot lemonade {depending on your flavor, of course}. There are months I crave the taste and some months it’s not my favorite, but I definitely don’t dislike it! It doesn’t bother me at all.

4. Stasher Bags

These are my favorite reusable bags for having snacks on-hand with Maxi. Like most toddlers, Maxi can be a grazer and these reseal so you can throw the rest of the snack in your purse and not worry about crumbs going everywhere. These also work well for storing lunch because you can microwave them safely, and they conveniently can go in the dishwasher. I’ve also seen people use the snack size to store essential oils in their bags. During my holiday gift exchange with girlfriends, these bags were a prize and they were the most wanted gift! I use both the snack and sandwich size.

5. Pink Silicone Lunch Boxes

Speaking of reusable food storage, I also love these collapsible bento boxes! They are microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe, plus, they don’t take up a lot of room in your kitchen because they fold down. I use these if we are going somewhere I know Maxi won’t eat the food. For example, if someone is hosting a party and they are only serving adult appetizers {charcuterie boards, etc.} or if we are going to be out and about during her dinner time and I know she can’t wait. I also take these with me on days she is at Mother’s Day Out and I’m working at a coffee shop. I’ll throw a salad or sandwich in for me so I can easily eat in my car before I get her.

6. Tote Organizer

I have this in the “X-Large” size for my Lous Vuitton Neverfull GM tote. I absolutely love it for housing my items with Maxi’s. There is a divider in the middle so I can separate one side of the tote with items for Maxi like her sippy cups and snacks, with the other side holding my items. I plan on ordering the size “Large” for my LV MM tote. My organizer is in the “beige” shade and it nicely blends with the interior of my GM. I’ve ordered a few different felt organizers off Amazon and this one is by far my favorite.

7. Kitchen Tower

This is a new-to-us item that is going to make cooking dinner so much easier! A few readers had suggested we get a toddler tower for the kitchen that way Maxi could stand by me as I prep dinner. She will watch me or play with Play-Doh on the counter. This way I can keep an eye on her and she isn’t trying to climb on me while I’m over the stove. While we have only had it a few weeks, I’m so obsessed with it that it had to make the list.

8. Shopping Cart Snack Tray

If we have a long day of running errands, I don’t leave without our shopping cart snack tray. You clip it to your grocery cart and they can have their snacks in front of them, without the snacks falling on the floor! Paul also thinks this is one of our top Amazon buys because when he takes her grocery shopping he has to have this!

9. Oombee Cube

This cube is a life saver for babies and toddlers on flights. So many great toddler activities {window clings, stickers, colors} for flights end up on the floor and then you’re constantly bending down to pick them up. The great thing about this cube is the shapes are all connected to the cube, so you never lose tiny pieces. We use this on car rides and she also just loves playing with it at home. Keep it in your bathroom so your babe can keep busy while you get ready for the day!

10. Clear Lipstick Caps

This is probably the one Amazon item I receive the most questions on when it is shown on Instagram or the blog! These clear lipstick caps fit my MAC lipsticks, which make grabbing a lipstick out of your purse or makeup bag a breeze. You don’t spend time taking caps off trying to find your perfect shade since we all know those bottom stickers fade and you can hardly read the names. If you are trying to organize your beauty products a bit more for the new year, try these.

11. Fabric Shaver

If you have a sweater that has seen better days, you don’t need to get rid of it just yet! This fabric shaver is pure magic! I had a more inexpensive version, loved it so much, and then got this one this year. I use it on all my sweaters that start to “pill” and have used it other items like blankets or scarves, too. Within a few minutes, your items look brand new.

12. Headbands

If you are growing out baby hairs from pregnancy, you’ll want these! I wore these a lot at home when I had my “wings” and I still use them for working out or just when I need to tame flyaways. I naturally just have a lot of baby hairs, so these work perfectly.

Don’t forget, if you ever have a question on where some of my Amazon items are from, I do have this shop page here so you can save and reference!

Now let’s get a list going, what were your favorite Amazon buys from this year! Feel free to leave a link below so we can all browse!

I tried these silicone travel bottles on a whim and I LOVE them so much that I ordered 3 sets as Christmas gifts! ha! They come in different sizes depending on what you need, and they have a no-drip valve so your liquids don’t pour out as soon as you take off the cap! I personally love them so much more than the basic bottles you find at Target! It’s the perfect thing to put my Tula/other cleansers in and they’re so easy to refill! TSA approved too! Can’t recommend enough.

What size of the purse organizer would you recommend for a Barrington St. Anne tote? Thanks!

    • Katey wrote:

Hi Shea! I would do the size medium. My *only* worry is that the width at the bottom of the organizer might be a bit wider than the tote. The St. Anne has a 5″ diameter and the medium has a 5.1″ diameter, but I really don’t think that will be an issue as the organizer is felt and can be malleable to your bag! I hope this helps! xo, Katey
