Dress for Work & Weekend

The Details

Dress {wearing xs} | Sandals | Earrings | Bag | In partnership with Nordstrom. All purchases and opinions are my own! photography by: Angie Garcia

Happy Wednesday! Today is Paul’s birthday, so it’s quite a special day for our family. Maxi is just starting to kind of understand that birthdays are a big celebration. So yesterday she made him a craft for his birthday- hope you like a colored chicken clothespin, Paul. 😉 She kept saying, “This for Dada.” She was very proud and I know he will adore it.

As we eat his favorite coffee cake {Sara Lee coffee cake, anyone?! The best!} and sip coffee this morning, I wanted to share this dress with you all. There are so many reasons this dress, although printed, can be a closet staple.

  • It’s a wonderful length and fit for the office. Halogen is a great brand for buying workwear, did you see this tweed jacket for the Anniversary Sale?! If you work in a business environment where you could wear a print, I’d pair this dress with a black heel and a black blazer over the top.
  • It ties at the waist, so if you were wearing this on the weekend as I’ve styled here, you could even put on a fun belt to break up the print.
  • It buttons so it is definitely nursing friendly for all my pregnant or new mama readers.
  • It is a crepe shirtdress meaning it’s got a wonderful, quality fabric, but if I wore this to church right now I would still feel like it was breathable. You get wear out of this year-round, and can even throw on tights, a faux fur vest, and booties with it as it has black and white accents. For a summer bridal or baby shower, I’d wear this dress with the white accents as featured above. Add white sandals and a white bag and it already feels lighter and brighter.

From the office to a weekend transitional season piece, I thought you could find plenty of spots {no pun intended 😉 } to wear this dress, as well!
