5 Things to Know About Tula’s Sunscreen

The Details

Sunscreen | Blue Dress: La Vie Style House

Today’s blog post is quite a treat! This fall marks seven years of blogging and in those seven years, you all have one top product request. There’s one product that you all e-mail, DM, and comment asking about. One product that we’ve been talking about with the brand for YEARS. One product that takes quite some time to create, based on different regulations, etc. One product that I’ve been trying hard to not spill the beans on.

Oh yes, friends. Tula launched sunscreen!

And the best news? COF readers can shop it first! The TULA team knows this is something we’ve been talking about for so long {I can remember talking sunscreen with them when Maxi was like 3 months old?!} that they wanted to allow you all to shop it today on my blog before it launches publicly tomorrow. To shop it, you use this link and my code KATEY which gives you 15% off.

I know I can get a little wordy when it comes to skincare, so let’s break it down with the 5 things you need to know.

  1. UVA + UVB, Blue Light & Pollution Protection– This is an SPF 30 with UVA + UVB protection that also protects against blue light and pollution. This is perfect for INDOORS {hello, computer screens} and outdoors. Overexposure of blue light and pollution has been linked to premature skin aging. Getting ac installation and staying indoors are the best ways to protect yourself from the extreme summer heat. This sunscreen is reef safe, vegan, and formulated without: parabens, phthalates, mineral oil & petrolatum, sulfates, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, triclosan, fragrance, gluten, dairy. It’s also cruelty-free.
  2. Won’t Clog Pores– This is a non-comedogenic formula that was created for ALL skin types. If you are acne-prone or battle oily skin, it can be difficult to find a sunscreen that doesn’t amplify those skin issues you try to treat. This formula is made to be bffs with any skin type.
  3. No White Cast– Let’s talk about another common sunscreen issue, the dreaded white cast. Many sunscreens leave a white cast and you continue to blend and blend and blend. This doesn’t leave a white cast and just leaves a really soft and gorgeous glow. I’ll show a photo below of a before and after so you can get an idea of what the glow looks like!
  4. Long-Term Skin Benefits– Formulated with skincare-first ingredients for immediate & long-term benefits. I don’t know about you, but I like to know my products are working overtime. Give me lotions that also add in a little self-tanner. Give me lip gloss that helps heal chapped lips. Give me sunscreen that also acts as skincare. With continued use, this product was formulated to even skin tone, which is perfect this time of year as we will *hopefully* soon enjoy the pool!
    • Pineapple, Papaya & Probiotics help promote even skin tone & strengthen the skin barrier
    • Wild Butterfly Ginger Root helps protect skin against blue light
  5. Smells Amazing- No Synthetic Fragrance– This product has the loveliest scent {let’s be honest, not always the case with sunscreen} but it isn’t overpowering as it isn’t a fragrance. The pineapple and papaya just give it a hint of something fresh and beachy!

Order of Application

When doing my skincare routine, I’ll use my moisturizer, THEN sunscreen, then makeup primer, and finish up with the TULA eye balm! But if you want to skip makeup, you can go sans primer and be finished with your routine after sunscreen.

A full morning routine might look like:

cleanse, tone, eye cream, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, eye balm

Of course, you can take away whatever products don’t fit into your routine or life, but if you are curious on when to incorporate, that is when sunscreen is best!

This is after the sunscreen has dried down for about 45 seconds to a minute. You can see it isn’t greasy or shiny, it’s just a really soft glow!

This is my skin in natural light outside when we went for a morning walk. I just woke up and applied sunscreen before we headed outside!

Tula’s Protect + Glow Sunscreen is $36, but with my KATEY code you’ll use while ordering today it is $30.60. It’s 1.7 fl oz and to give you an idea of how long it will last you, I’m still on my last sample tube I had in December. This tube was the one from before final production in my testing and I still have some product left. 🙂

But most importantly, aside from sunscreen and exciting launches, I want to talk about a few wonderful things TULA is doing right now with everything going on in our world. They just told me I could launch the sunscreen early for you all, but I would be remiss to not mention what I think is the most important work they are doing right now!

If you don’t follow them on social media, you may have missed these announcements, so I wanted to share while I have you for a few minutes this morning as you read this post.

Masks for Masks

Through April, when you purchase a pack of Star Bright Hydrogel Masks {already 50% off to make them more accessible}, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to A Million Masks. This is an initiative to get 1 million medical masks to those who need it most. In addition to Star Bright proceeds, TULA has already donated funds to cover thousands of protective masks. So by you getting masks, you are giving masks.

I do want to note if you add those to your order, you may notice code “Katey” doesn’t discount the masks further. That is because they are already discounted at 50% to make this a more feasible purchase, and we don’t want to take away from proceeds. You can read more about this initiative here.

TULA selected this cause for a few reasons:

  • TULA is founded by a practicing doctor, and protecting the healthcare community right now hits close to home. I know we all want to give to those working tirelessly for our care as they are in dire need of personal protective equipment, so this was a natural fit.
  • TULA is an NYC-based company, so helping them fight the spread of COVID-19 there will also help protect their community beyond NYC.
  • A Million Masks was also set up by a fellow startup company, and it allows TULA to make a meaningful impact ASAP with YOUR help!

In addition to this program, they also launched a program with ID.me to provide a 20% discount at checkout to all nurses, first responders, teachers, military, government workers & students through April.

I’m thrilled to share this {early} launch with you all as loyal COF and TULA girls and even more thrilled to share those initiatives above. If you would like to try this sunscreen, be sure to click the link here so you have early access and use code KATEY at checkout!
