A Week in Outfits

I don’t know about you, but this time of year I crave a little outfit inspiration. The “excitement” of sweater weather has worn off. It’s dark and gloomy and most mornings I wish I could throw on a sundress. Printed Shorts. A SWIMSUIT! I miss you, sun! Sometimes, you just need to have a Pinterest moment in your own closet and snap some flat lays. It sounds a little silly {indulgent even} to take 3-4 minutes and pause to look through outfits in your closet. Aren’t we supposed to do that hurridly at 7 am before we’ve got to run out the door? But if you’re a little stuck in your wardrobe, take a few minutes this weekend, play around with some flat lays and see what you can mix and match. I did the same and made a “week in outfits” post to share what I would wear Sunday through Saturday. It’s nothing overly fancy- just some real-life looks that get me out of my usual leggings and sweatshirt. Let me know if you try the same!

Sunday

Church, Brunch, Family Naps

Dress. Similar Dress. Similar Dress. Mules. Similar Mules. Bag. Similar Bag.

I always joke I’m the missing Cheetah Girl because I’ve never met an animal print I wasn’t fond of. I live for a leopard dress- stay tuned for this on the blog next week. Depending on the weather, I’d rock this dress with either black tights and booties or bare legs and black mules for church and brunch.

Monday

Groceries and Errands

Sweater {runs small}. Jeans. Sneakers. Bag.

A surplice sweater is a perfect compromise when you just want to stay home in a cozy cardigan, but you know you’ll feel better in something a tad bit dressier. This one could pair with jeans as seamlessly as it could pair with leggings. For sizing details, make note that this pins at the chest so if you are curvier, size up!

Tuesday

Meetings and Lunch with Friends

Dress {runs small}. Shoes. Bag. Similar Bag.

This is a look a bit more suited for spring, but in a month or so I’ll be wearing it nonstop! I fell in love with tie-front dresses last year- see this post. They are undeniably comfortable and can be styled to serve whatever look you prefer. If you are in those first few months of pregnancy, you can loosen the tie to fit your bump, or if you want to look a bit dressier you can tighten it for a fitted style. It’s a versatile dress that works for meetings at coffee shops and lunches with friends.

Wednesday

Work from Home

Sweater. Jeans. Sneakers. Bag. {larger size}

If you’re working from home and don’t see the point in changing between pajamas and a simple sweater, try a print. You don’t sacrifice comfort on your sofa, but I will argue you’ll feel even dressier. I got this sweater from Amazon and found it TTS- I’m obsessed with it and would repurchase in another shade, too.

Thursday

Pilates and Powering through E-mails

Leggings. Sweater.

As I’ve headed back to pilates after the new year, I have had my eyes peeled for printed leggings. I purchased these with a gift card from Christmas and love that the mauve hue can pair with any color of top! These have a snake print that aren’t too loud if you typically prefer a simple pair of black leggings.

Friday

Date Night

Bodysuit {runs small}. Jeans {similar}. Shoes. Bag.

If you struggle with date-night looks in the winter, pair a bodysuit with boyfriend jeans and throw on a fabulous coat. Bodysuits are great for layering with jackets, vests and blazers- without any added bulk. This one runs small, so size up! P.S. these shoes are my favorite thing in my closet right now- BEYOND comfortable.

Saturday Morning

Farmer’s Market & Museum

Sweater. Sneakers. Jeans. Bag.

You can see the ruffle detailing of this sweater a bit more in this photo, but if you are tired of winter hues and wanting spring- this sweater is your pick! It’s warm but not bulky, so you can wear it into spring with white denim as well. I’d wear this with sneakers and jeans to the farmer’s market and museum for a family day on Saturday.

Saturday Night

Cocktail Attire Wedding

Dress. Shoes. Similar Shoes. Bag.

Do you remember this dress from last year? It sold out so quickly, but it came back in stock just in time for those February and March weddings. This shade of green makes it the perfect alternative to an LBD if you have a cocktail-attire wedding coming up! I’ll have a blog post wearing this dress soon, but wanted to share it before it sells out again!

Even if you don’t want to do this exercise a full 7 days, pick 3 activities you always do during the week {maybe church, book club night, coffee dates with a friend} and test out 3 flat lay options for them. While taking this type of photo can’t always do it justice on how it will look on you, it might cause you to mix and match something you hadn’t tried before. Let me know if you try it or if you copy any of these looks! Have a great Thursday!

Such a good idea! I’m totally with you that January and February can seem very uninspiring for outfits! But all of these are super cute 🙂
