COF Lately

Hello, friends! I type this with Starbucks in one hand and rubbing my eyes with the other. Sweet little H got shots yesterday and was wide awake laughing and trying to play until 2 am. Yes, 2 am! I started bath and snuggles at 7 pm and I’m still confused about how he fought it for a solid 7 hours. haha. He’s snoozing great now, though. 😉 Today, let’s have some girl chat, as these are always some of my favorite posts to read.

  • What are you watching? I {along with the rest of the world} just finished Emily in Paris. It’s cheesy and you wonder why you are watching it the entire time. It’s not a cheesy “feel good” like a Hallmark movie. It’s from the creator of Sex and the City, and I just have to equate it to gas station chips. You know, when you are on a road trip and you run in and grab some powdery-dusted bag of Lay’s. You munch on them for an hour and all the while wonder, “Why am I eating these?!” But you can’t stop! That’s how I felt with Emily in Paris. Each episode I wondered why I was watching it and yet, I’m already googling with season 2 is coming. Part of me cringed because that is NOT an accurate depiction of how influencer marketing works and yet, I loved the fashion, the love triangles, and everything else. ha. Now I feel like I need to watch Younger.
  • Speaking of shows, I need your thoughts on Clare’s season of the Bachelorette! As each season comes and goes, I realize I am outgrowing this show. And yet, here I am…asking you your thoughts because I watched last night in between trying to get H to sleep.
  • I started The Book of 2 Ways after picking it up at Costco. The Amazon reviews scared me a bit, but everyone was picking this book up at the store. And what does one do when you have a nightstand full of books you need to read? You just buy a new book because you see everyone else doing it. ha. I have been reading it as I nurse H, and the main critique on Amazon is the tedious details in the writing being so different than what Jodi usually does, but *so far* it hasn’t bothered me. I’ll let you know how I like it when I finish!
  • I cooked all last weekend! If you are looking for a Sunday evening recipe for your family, try Julia Child’s Beef Bourguignon.
  • I feel as though I’m becoming quite picky with my face masks, and these are some of my favorites for fall. They don’t itch and fit great! I find many can either be too big or too tight or have little hairs that hit your lips and itch your nose 24/7.
  • What are your thoughts on this? I’m big on digital boundaries and giving yourself a break, but I’ve actually been thinking about really implementing a sabbath as a family and removing myself from social one day a week. I can talk more on that later, but I have a girlfriend and she and her family honor the sabbath so well. On Saturday they do no work, only commitments that give their family rest, etc. She talks about how you have to plan for it, of course, as she has 3 kids. But God rested, so why shouldn’t we? I think I feel intimidated by it because we do not have a nanny or babysitter, so the weekends are a big opportunity for me to get work done. I’m just thinking out loud here, but if you or your family implements one, I’d love to hear about it!
  • Let’s chat about this ultra-casual preschool pickup outfit! Maxi freaks that I’m wearing my slippers in public when I wear these, but these slides are a fall uniform’s best friend. And this hoodie has a cashmere feel to it and is so soft! It runs a little smaller, I’m in a small.

I’d love to hear from you! What are you watching, reading, cooking, or thinking about lately?!

I felt similarly about Emily in Paris!! I loved it in the worst way haha. I’d be so curious your thoughts on Younger! I LOVED the first few seasons but found it has really gone downhill in seasons five and six. Not sure I’ll watch season seven whenever that comes out.

And I take a break from my blog Instagram for 24 hours each weekend- Saturday nights through Sunday nights! I still let myself check my personal FB or work on writing blog posts if needed during that time, but it’s really nice to have an IG break each week 🙂

I am so disappointed by this season of the Bachelorette! I was looking forward to some trashy TV at night, but I don’t think I can do it. I watched about 30 minutes this week and had to turn it off. I like your theory that I’m just outgrowing the show. 🙂

Same! Normally it’s just mind numbing to me and I enjoy it but I just can’t. I paused it like 87 times watching it to do other things lol.

Katey!! Love reading these types of posts. I haven’t watched Emily in Paris and I can;t decide if i want to give in or not. Currently finishing Schitt’s Creek and sad it’s over.

I am a HUGE bachelor fan, like watches every show I can’t control myself, but this season is not my cup of tea. I think it’s too different from what the seasons are usually like. Not sure, can’t put my finger on it, but I hope the vibe changes with Tayhia!

I am 100% making that Sunday evening recipe, especially since it’s been so gloomy outside! I hope you’re doing well and hearing how Maxi is so excited for Halloween makes me, a 24 year old, just as excited! I hope she has the best day!!
