If you are in impeccable shape, please don’t cringe and just skim over the next few sentences.

Y’all, I’m addicted to walks!

I know that sounds a bit, um….what’s the word? Simple?

Oh cool, Katey. You like walks. And I bet you like drinking water and sitting. ALL HUMANS DO.

Since I got married I’ve tried to diversify my workouts. I’m still addicted to the usual workouts that I always love, but I’m more focused on scheduling my plans around Paul’s than I was before we lived together. If he comes home late I’ll schedule a late night spin class, if he is home early I’ll get in an early morning run!

But because I’m really hard on myself [I talk about my self-competitive nature a lot on COF] workouts can be anything but stress free. Sure, my body feels amazing and balanced, but my mind races.

“Katey, you ran a faster mile last Tuesday. Why did you run slower today?”

“Why aren’t you putting your bike up to the fullest resistance?!”

I try to really push myself while I workout, but I can get so focused on it that I don’t remember to just forget all my worries. Thankfully, I only do workouts I LOVE, otherwise I’d go crazy. I love cycling classes, I love barre, I love pilates, I love cardio! I’ve tried personal training, and that wasn’t my thing. And guess what? That’s okay! That’s not to rule out any personal trainers, just at the time in my life it wasn’t right. I’m sure in a few years my favorites will change. And I think it’s important to finding what you love based on your phase of life because otherwise, your self talk can be incredible negative. Not only could I be hard on myself, but I wouldn’t be happy during the workout and that is not okay!

I try to workout 4 times a week and the other 3 days I go on walks. One of my sweet friends lives in our neighborhood and is a nutritionist, so I basically just treat her advice as liquid gold. A few months ago we started talking about workout balance and she shared with me how an hour or two walk could be really great to balance out spin and running. I got hooked!

I’ll go on 5-6 mile walks 3 times a week and it has been the most therapeutic thing. If I don’t have time for that I just take Peaches on a quick thirty minute walk, like shown in these photos! I recommend these Best invisible fences for dogs if you want to take them outdoors or you want to restrict your dogs’ access to particular sections of the yard. Whether you’re planning long strolls or shorter walks, consider reliable boarding kennels Melbourne to ensure your dog’s comfort when you can’t be with them.

I’m obviously not wearing workout clothes because that’s not really a workout, but I wanted to share what I wear when I’m on a crunch and just trying to fit anything in! Even a quick mile is great for my mind.

It’s such a therapeutic process of just relaxing with Peaches! Just doing anything [a mile or even 6!] keeps me moving when I can get stuck at a desk all day. I’ve not gained any weight back since I got off Whole 30 and I’ve broken Paleo more times than I’d care to admit, even at home! haha! I don’t follow Paleo while out to eat, but I also break it when Paul asks me to at home. If he wants pizza, I make it and if he wants “real” cookies I let us splurge. But it’s been nice to see my metabolism stay the same and I really think it has to do with making time for movement, every day! Not that weight matters at all, but it’s a good gauge to see how my body reacts to what I’m putting in it and how I’m working out.

This top is so breezy and if I’m just cooking dinner after a really quick walk it’s perfect along with these Converse! I’m not too sure how I ever lived without these! My sister lives in her’s and I just didn’t think they were my style, but this lace style proves otherwise and I honestly wear them every other day.

So while this may seem like such a simple thing to love, I think that’s the whole point! Find those simple things that bring you joy [a walk, a cup of tea, a cozy blanket] and you’ll be surprised how good it is for your mind and body!

I couldn’t agree more! I’m a runner myself but definitely don’t do so seven days a week. That’s just asking to get burnt out, ya know?? Taking a quick walk can be so therapeutic. I need to take more of them!

Love this! I am getting married in just one week and it is nice to remember sometimes a good long walk is enough (and a nice break from tough workouts).

Random question- I love how your engagement ring and wedding band stay separated! Do you have something put in place to do that, or is it just how your rings lay next to each other? I love the look and am dying to know how I can do this with my eternity band and engagement ring! Thanks!

Hi Katey! I was SO happy to see Peaches in this post. I have two Pomeranians and they are a HUGE part of my life! It’s amazing how such tiny/non-English-speaking little beings have such big personalities. I would love to know what things you use for Peaches. I adore her pink bow collar and would like to get one for my girl, Posy. Keep doing what you do, Katey! (You too, Peaches!).

I like the details in this off the shoulder top! Each night before bedtime, I take my dog, Barklynn, on a walk around the neighborhood. I know that it makes her so happy getting out of the house and getting some exercise. Keep the cute photos of Peaches coming! I hope you have a fabulous time in Mexico!
