Maxi’s Second Birthday Party

A month later, and I finally got her birthday party pictures up! My sister had snapped some iPhone photos the day of and I didn’t even really realize it, but it was a sweet surprise when she sent them my way last week. Thank you, Kirsty!

We did a “tumble into two” birthday party theme as one of our favorite family activities is Maxi’s Little Gym class. It’s been so fulfilling to watch her confidence soar. Maxi isn’t a daredevil by any means and neither was I as a child. From her first class where she was timid to try anything to now watching her grin with confidence as she walks across the balance beam- we have seen such change in her. It’s been a joy to watch her try new things- and I knew it would be great for her birthday party.

For some mamas wondering where I sourced items, here is what I used to plan her party:

Cake: Sugarbiscuit Cakery {flavor chocolate & strawberry}

Food: Chick-Fil-A Party Trays

Decor: Berry Pom & James {see my blog post here}

Maxi’s Shirt: Etsy

Party Favors: Bags, Stickers, Star Crayons, YumEarth Suckers, Play-Doh, Star Bubbles

Invitations: Pink Champagne Designs

In keeping with a star theme on the invitations, we added star details to her cake, party favors and party decor! Berry Pom & James did a fabulous job with all the decor, plates and balloons! She has a section on her site where you can shop by theme- I was actually shopping on there last night for a baby shower coming up, so it makes it nice where you aren’t spending 4 hours online trying to find plates and cups and balloons that all coordinate. And while kids don’t give a thought to all the matching pieces, there’s just something peaceful to me as a mom to put all this together. I looked forward to her excitement for months before her party, and then to watch her clap her hands with her friends as they tore into their party favors meant so much!

I always love to share these little personal life posts as a way to document our life as blogs have always been intended to do. Thank you all for sharing in this with me and allowing me that opportunity!

We are currently back from our little weekend trip to Scottsdale, so I’m working on a blog post for that on all of our favorite spots to enjoy while there. Have a great start to your week!

    hey!! cute party. we just celebrated our daughter Cotton Leigh’s 2nd birthday with a Swan Soirée themed party and loved it. but my question to you is, we struggle with the “no gifts please” and didnt put that on her invite bc we didnt want to seem rude, but realize she doesnt need 80% of the gifts she gets. do you feel bad putting that on there? what are peoples response when you do? do they actually adhere to that request? REALLY wanting to do that from now on but a little insight would be helpful! thanks!! here’s a link to her pics if you wanna check out our party 🙂

      Hi Lauren! Oh my goodness, her dress was stunning! What a beautiful party! So for age 2 and below I didn’t have an issue putting no gifts please, because she didn’t even understand she was getting gifts. Family members gave gifts, but most everyone followed. I’m not sure if anyone was offended by it, but most of my friends have done that for some parties for their kids so I think everyone just thought it was normal. And grandparents just didn’t follow that because they are grandparents and love to spoil! Haha. Now for her 3rd party I didn’t include that because she knows you get presents and I don’t want to ruin that for her. I think whatever you decide is totally appropriate, your call mama! She had a fabulous party from those pics! Xx, katey
