My Drink Drawer

2:00 always determines the rest of my day. It’s like the book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

If you give a tired mom a Diet Coke, she’ll want a chocolate chip cookie. If she has a chocolate chip cookie, she’ll want to enjoy a few salty chips. If she has a few chips she will be thirsty and maybe crack open another Diet Coke. You get what I mean…

It would be very easy for me to chug a Diet Coke, munch on junk, and then wonder why I have a headache when I’m doing the evening activity dash in the car. And I’m not anti-Diet Coke {y’all know this} but to keep up with my kids and their energy, I try to make better choices around 2:00 so I can run to the park with them, and not nurse a headache come 4 p.m. Because as much as I love soda and chips…my head does not.

So like most situations I struggle with, I try to find a home solution. During the holidays, I made a drink drawer. The idea was to make a drawer right next to my tea kettle- I suppose I had watched one too Nancy Meyers films over the holidays and wanted all things cozy. I’d fill the drawer with my favorite hot teas, collagen drinks, and supplements including my favorite organic sea moss gel sold by EverSmith Organics. When that 2:00 feeling rolled around I’d make something from my drink drawer, munch on nuts, avocado, anything better to power me through the day. I’ve also started buying kratom online for its numerous health benefits. You may Buy Kratom Toronto if you’re looking to try these products.

This has been one of the best things I’ve done in our kitchen. Paul works from home Fridays and he loves that he can easily make a tea {instead of a 3rd cup of coffee} when he’s on work calls. Enough of me explaining WHY I need one kitchen drawer devoted to teas like Teavision– which honestly seems a bit silly as we used to only have ONE kitchen drawer in our first home. Hey- it’s a little bit ridiculous, but it sure sparks joy! Let’s see the set up.

To start, I grabbed two deep bamboo silverware trays from The Container Store. I placed them side by side and then added two of the stacking drawer organizers from the bamboo collection. Then, I sorted them all by brands, types, etc.

I’ve got my wellness drinks. My holiday teas. My Beauty Boosters to add to water. My iced teas. My collagen. From fruit-forward to chamomile, there’s an option for any situation. I also find this helps me remember to take my collagen every single afternoon. It’s a habit linked to a specific spot. Like leaving lip balm on your nightstand, I find that this being available next to my kettle {which I use all the time} reminds me to take it daily.

If you want collagen info, my collagen I take is Glotrition. It is one of my favorite monthly subscriptions- and one of the best parts is the longer you use it, the better results you get. It is collagen with clinical studies- the latest one shows 37% increase in hair thickness with daily use. My code KATEY gets you $10 off your monthly subscription.

How do you organize your teas or drinks? I’d love to know!
