Maxi’s Fairy Tea Party

We celebrated Maxi turning six two weekends ago and I think we’ve all officially come down from the sugar high. The glitter has been vacuumed out of the carpet, we have started thank-you notes {takes 87 years with a kindergartener lol}, and I’ve cried all the birthday mama tears.

We decided to have it at The Rose Garden Tea Room. It’s our favorite spot to have lunch together. It’s tucked away in a little antique mall in Fort Worth. When the boys go to basketball games on the weekend, we will head to lunch and “search” for treasures. She asked if we could have her birthday party there in the back room and I thought that would be perfect for her friends! Think pink lemonade “tea,” little tea sandwiches, pumpkin bread, and fruit!

She also LOVES fairies. I think that’s half the reason I convince her to go on nature walks with her brother, she knows she can look for fairy houses. At six she’s all about fairies, unicorns, and rainbows. I tried to incorporate as many of those details I could in this for the girls. We had some fairy dancers come read fairy books, tea was served, and each little girl was gifted fairy wings.

I’ll link the details I can below, but will you humor me a bit while I gush over having a SIX year old?! How?! I really grieved her turning five, because it felt like a bandaid was being ripped off. She was going to go to kindergarten, make new friends, spend half her day away from me. But y’all she has thrived. I was so proud of her in a way I hadn’t seen before. Week after week I watched her leave school with a smile on her face, go into dance, change quickly into her leotard, never complain of being tired, and come home to help with dinner, and play with her brother. She went from my baby to my helper right before my eyes.

Maxi is kind, literal, hilarious, nurturing, and quite the conversationalist. Her teacher says she is extremely chatty- but at the right times. ha! She says she wants to be a teacher and adopt babies, and I have no doubt she will do whatever she sets her mind to. It is a joy to be her mama and watch her grow in friendships, in her role as a big sister, and in her love of Jesus.

Just want to say I MISS the daily blog posts! As someone who isn’t on Insta, there are those of us who still loyally read the blog. Not coming from a place of hate, just truly miss it!

Hi Claire! I miss them, too! You are not alone! Thank you for your loyalty- it means more than you know. I’m learning a lot in this season with babies and how much I can’t control. Harry threw up on the way to Mother’s Day Out today- and I had planned on getting another post up today. But didn’t happen as we went back home to snuggle. All plans a wash. haha. I appreciate you being here even though it isn’t as consistent as I wish. I hope one day to be here daily, again! xx, Katey

    Katey,
Enjoy these moments! Sadly, gone in the twinkle of an eye.
But then, of course, there are music and chorus recitals, dance recitals, cheerleading mom/daughter brunches. Boy/girl dances (heaven forbid!) and of course the proms. Every stage has its merit but the most heavily imprinted on my mind is your little gals age NOW and up to 13……NOPE. Lied ;D Make that 11!
PS. save that outfit! Would be so perfect if she becomes a flower girl and HOW could the bride resist that outfit!
