Wait? A Mother’s Day post? I know, I know. Easter was yesterday. I promise I’m not speeding on the holiday express.

My mother and I are so incredibly close, but as I get older and many of my friends become mothers I cultivate this newfound awe for my mother’s strength.

I find myself asking her so many trivial questions because it’s all so new to me.

“Mom, what did you do for the morning sickness? Did they not have Zofran back then?”

“Mom, what age was I the most difficult?”

“Mom, no seriously. How did you go through 32 hours of labor? THIRTY TWO.”

I know the respect you have for your mother only increases with age, but seeing friends go through pregnancy, labor and motherhood has opened my eyes even more to how much my mother loves my sister and I. Honestly, at the point I have kids I’m just going to want to tattoo “I’m sorry” on my forehead and call it a day for how needy of a child I was. I always wanted to sleep in bed with my mom and I still call her 7 times a day now. But moms never keep a record of wrong and that in and of itself is incredible to me! Thankfully, my sister is an independent child so the Lord gave her a break with that. 😉

So needless to say, I love spoiling my mom and any day we can to celebrate her. I know so many of my readers are the same, and I really wanted to share Mother’s Day ideas now so you could save up with your siblings and discuss what you wanted to do.

Having a younger sister, my mom loved us coordinating. We are 7 years apart, but you better believe we had matching denim jumpers and every other monogrammed dress my mom could get her hands on. To make the photos even better, my mom always matched. Then you turn 12, things get embarrassing and you ruin the fun for your mom.

I’m not sure if it is subconscious guilt, or just this newfound admiration of her love of motherhood, but when I want to spoil my mom I like to revert back to 8-year-old Katey and get her matching things. It doesn’t mean I whip out denim tops with khaki pants so we can take those stellar Christmas card again, I just try to find cohesive pieces from a brand or line.

I typically get double brownie points if I stick to a brand she is already loyal to. My mom told me about Barrington Gifts about a year ago. I had gone to a blog conference and every blogger I knew there was carrying one of their travel bags. Feeling a bit embarrassed I was late to the party, I asked my mom if she knew about the line. She whipped out her St. Anne Tote [shown above] and said, “Well yes. I got if off a blogger’s Like To Know It.”

My mother does damage on Like To Know It. Complete and total damage.

Barrington Gifts asked if I’d like to partner on a post for their new spring launch [the spring monogram stripe is what I have!] and I was so excited. Not only did this fall in line with something my mother loves and I’ve eyeballed, but I love what the foundation of their brand is. You can watch this video here which explains how they use their business for missions and to give God glory having a factory in China. They have chosen this to be the salt and light in another area of the world and it’s the catalyst for a huge source of love to others. Their factory director in China is a “tent making” missionary and also is able to run another organization for abandoned, disabled children.

What a better way to show love and honor to your mom? Through a bag, a wallet or a tote she will love for ages, that also supports a company that is dedicated to the art of giving.

My mom has a few of the St. Anne Totes and I had my eye on the Belmont Cabin Bag. This is the bag I took to NYC and y’all sent me so many e-mails about what it was! You can customize whatever color of stripes and monogram you want, which can make it unique if your sisters want to match with your mom!

I have to brag on the bag, though. I had a meeting an hour after we landed in NYC so I knew checking a bag wasn’t an option. I was a little worried because I needed to bring boots, sweaters and thick clothing. This bag held everything, including pieces I purchased on the way home, and you can easily carry it on a plane! And we all know I’m no light packer…this girl needs hair spray and 47 lipsticks. If you have a sister in college or someone who likes to keep it hands free I love the Kent Keyring option.

So whether you want to pull a 1992 and match with every piece, or customize the spring line to fit your mom and sibling’s taste, I thought this would be the perfect gift that you’ll remember each time you travel or take it with you.

Thank you so much for following along and I hope this resonates with you just like it did with me!
