Are leggings pants? Are they not pants? Are they made for the home? Are they made for running errands? What about date night?

Leggings are notorious to some and a best friend to others! I think the reason they get gossiped about so frequently is because there are differing ways to style them. You’ve got your gym leggings and then you’ve got your fancy schmancy leggings. Today I’m styling a fancy little pair for fall – faux leather leggings!

The best trick for wearing leggings is to understand balance. Faux leather leggings are a little Sandy from Grease and so it’s nice to balance that with an oversized sweater. But then how do you create height and show intentionality in your sizing, not laziness? You throw on a good heel! Had I thrown on sneakers the look would have automatically felt far more casual and at that rate I might need to put on workout leggings for this look. But that is the beautiful thing about styling leggings during the day- you’ve got lots of options! A skirt may not scream mom uniform, but I promise you this sweater with casual leggings and sneakers is perfect for a mommy & me class!

If heels aren’t your thing and you don’t want to wear this look to date night [I get it! If you’re chasing a toddler these heels are a no go!] then make sure your bootie has added height. I would wear these leggings with these booties as they have a different texture for an added element and are still easy to walk in.

Let’s talk about these leggings! These are the Trouvé Faux Leather Leggings from Nordstrom and I buy a pair every single year- except last year. Didn’t work with the bump- go figure! lol! They come in a variety of sizes which I really appreciate and are under $80. They are TTS and I find them to actually be pretty forgiving- as leggings should be! {For sizing comparison purposes, I wear a size 25 in denim [I’m 5’3″] and have these in both an XS and a S. I have on the XS in these photos for reference. I love both pairs equally!} These are super easy to move around in with Maxi.

Have any fun weekend plans in which you could wear this look to?!

In partnership with Nordstrom. All purchases and opinions are my own!

  1. It’s been so long since I’ve worn leather leggings (or rather, faux leather leggings, since the real ones would be too expensive)! I love the trend, bring it back!

Ah I am wearing faux leather leggings today too so this post really excited me because I also styled them with an oversized sweater! I run around a lot at work so I opted for a pointy toe cheetah flat instead of heels but would love to style them with your shoes on the weekend! XOXO love this look.

I would love to rock some leather leggings but I’m always too nervous I’m not skinny enough for them. I should still give them a try though!
