Wedding Guest Hair & Accessories with Kendra Scott

The Details

Photography by: Madison Katlin | In collaboration with Kendra Scott. All opinions are my own.

Yesterday, we chatted engagement photos, so today we are calling all you wedding guests! Most of the time as we go into a new season, I recommend a dress or two that you could wear for weddings. Not today, girlfriends. Not today. Instead, I want to encourage you to dig through your closet, find a dress you already own and let’s talk about how to dress it up for your next wedding. I love a good challenge and I think restyling a dress you already wore to a wedding can be just that! These dresses are all looks you have seen me wear on the blog, but this time I’m pairing them with new jewels from the Kendra Scott Fall Collection and a new ‘do!

If you’re a longtime COF girl, you will remember I picked my wedding dress around a pair of Kendra Scott earrings. I’m very passionate about the brand. I love Kendra. I love the atmosphere of the stores. I love their wonderful employees. They are ALWAYS so kind when I bring a toddler in! Kendra Scott is a girl’s girl company from the shop floor to the values in their philanthropy. I’m excited each time I walk in a store, I’m giddy each time I wear a piece of their jewelry,  I feel happy each time I buy a piece as a gift for a friend, and I’m honored each time I partner to style their pieces.

The Formal Wedding

This is the dress I wore to my best friend Austin’s wedding. I styled it with a low updo, but when it comes to the one-shoulder dress, I also think a side braid does it justice, too. You can find the tutorial here. The juxtaposition of the bohemian braid and glam dress is one of my favorites! With a more tousled hairstyle, I think a glamorous earring is what this look needs. The Aragon Gold Drop Earrings in Ivory Pearl remind me of the earrings I wore on my wedding day. I think they are the perfect fit for a fancier occasion.

The Cocktail Hour Wedding

I always call a 6 p.m. non-black tie wedding a cocktail hour wedding. I’m totally making that term up, but I think you know the style I mean. 😉 This dress {similar} is one I wore on repeat last fall for winter events, and I think a messy low ponytail gives it Serena Van der Woodsen vibes. To draw attention to your face-framing layers, pop a color! I paired this style with the Astoria Rose Gold Drop Earrings in Maroon Jade.

The Destination Wedding or the Bachelorette Party

Headed to a fabulous destination beach wedding? Or need something sassy for a bachelorette party? Try my favorite half-ponytail trick. Now, I’m not preaching red for a wedding. I think this color is more for a bachelorette party, but I think this style is perfect for a beach wedding, as well. The Lotus Gold Statement Earring in Teal Marbled Acrylic is perfect because your face is open and this color will make your eyes pop no matter the hue.

The Brunch Wedding

Can we have more brunch weddings?! I’ve only been to two, but they were quite fabulous! A great party in the morning, a nap in the afternoon, and your makeup is still set for when you wake up and go to dinner. If you’re having one, invite me! A floral number is perfect for the affair and I think a top knot allows your look to shine. Taking a note from the previous look, I paired it with the Lotus Statement Earring in Gold.

So let’s chat more. Which kind of wedding is YOUR favorite to attend as a guest and which look would you wear?!

  1. I like the accessories, but what stands out the most in these photos is your hair! I love the way you braided it, it’s adorable! 🙂

Yes to re-wearing dresses to weddings! I had a friend’s to attend this summer and didn’t want to purchase another dress. I re-wore one from a couple years ago and styled my hair differently and added different accessories- it ended up being perfect! 🙂 And love Kendra Scott!
