While settling into our home, I feel like we had a period of 8 weeks where we didn’t seem to make too many changes or decisions. Then the past two weeks it’s like something new is happening each day! Last Monday we installed our kitchen hardware, yesterday we installed 3 light fixtures from Seus lighting collection. And on Friday most of our window awnings and treatments were installed. It is so nice to enjoy a space before and after a design decision has been implemented and then you can really feel the change with these amazing markiser here. We got to close all the window treatments yesterday and take a nap as a family and it felt so cozy in our home! I woke up and thought, “Man, I forget how dark it can get with curtains!” ha.

One design decision that has been thoroughly enjoyed the past two weeks would be our master bedroom nightstands. I had these “screenshotted” in a saved folder on my phone for years before I purchased. They are pretty wide and wouldn’t fit in previous homes we lived in based on room setup, but I had these on my heart since I was pregnant. I actually had some CEH gift certificates {my people know me well} so when we saw our master bedroom in this home was wide, I went for these! Well, let’s rewind. I first ordered a different set of nightstands thinking they’d curb my interested in these. We had one of those frustrating furniture experiences. They delivered to our old address because they lost our address and then pulled from a prior order, Paul went out to the house to get them, then they arrived so incredibly damaged. Once we returned, I went to what I originally wanted with these chests.

I love the raffia detail, lacquer, and ample storage space! Paul can hardly fill his side. I have housed all my books {because of course I’ve got 20 on deck to read in the future}, bible studies, lotions, the works!

I also spoke to some future plans for our master. We will be adding a wallpaper accent wall and the other pillows on the bed will be on Maxi’s big girl bed. I was actually testing out the pink with the lavender in these photos to see how I like the combination. I think it is a winner and so once her bed arrives they’ll move, and we’ll just get some neutral shams so the grasscloth wallpaper can be the focal point.

But I’d love to know what you’d put above the nightstands. Do I leave the space empty with wallpaper? Do I add mirrors or art? I typically reach for mirrors above nightstands, but my friend Diana has such great style with art she mentioned doing “his and her” art above the each nightstand. Paul could pick something he likes in black and white, I would do the same, and we do the same frame.

A few of my favorite things on my nightstand:

  • My coffee mug warmer might just be one of my favorite Amazon buys ever! What was originally a gift for my husband, became so beloved I got one for myself. Paul will get me my coffee when he gets up for the gym, I’ll work from bed and it’s so nice to just leave my mug there and never have to get up for a reheat. I used to microwave my coffee 17 times a morning and this ended that habit!
  • These lamps have been such a fun addition! At first, I wanted something really french and neutral for lighting. I ordered these on more of a whim around Prime Day and I couldn’t be happier. They’ve got two lighting settings which is nice for reading in bed and I also think they provide some good warmth next to the neutral tones.

So there’s a little master bedroom update for you! I guess when you sit on a furniture decision for 3 years {sorry for my cheesy pun} it makes it all the more exciting. What type of nightstands do you love?!
