Updated Purchases for Baby Boy

Moses basket is from a boutique in Fort Worth- Babies on the Boulevard

Today, I wanted to check in and see how all my pregnant mamas are feeling? I know many of us have learned about potential changes in the past week. We canceled my baby shower lunch and my OB appointment Monday was filled with new updates. While none of us really know the longevity of this mess, I am mentally preparing for the fact our parents and Maxi won’t be able to be there for the birth of our son. I am so grateful to hospitals for taking these measures and my goodness, I will do ANYTHING to keep us safe. In comparison to everything else, this is nothing! But I know as a pregnant mom, it’s still a “new normal” to wrap our minds around. So how are y’all doingIf you are about to deliver with more set changes, I just want to give you a huge hug. I know your delivery is in a stressful time and may not look like what you envisioned, but it will be beautiful, worth it, and quite the story to tell one day. I’m here for you.

But there is a rainbow to every storm, and I think by seeking those daily we can lessen our disappointments {or fears} in other areas. My rainbow this week has been making my list of things for baby boy. I spent last weekend organizing Maxi’s baby book, and so this week I’m going through and washing swaddles and making lists. As promised, I’m updating my baby boy purchases, and you share yours! I love seeing what other moms are finding during their nesting.

one | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight | nine | ten | eleven | twelve| thirteen | fourteen | fifteen

one: This is his little baby duffle we will use for trips, and for my hospital bag. Last time I just threw Maxi’s stuff and my stuff in one bag, but this time I want it separate so I’m not digging.

two: I have been so picky with swaddles for him! Swaddles of all things right?! haha. #Hormones I just feel like I haven’t found a ton I’m in love with, but once I found these on Amazon I had to immediately order because they were just what I was looking for.

three: I ordered these sweet pajamas a few weeks ago and when they came in they were even more precious than I imagined. I love this brand, Kissy Kissy, and Kickee Pants!

four: These pacis just came in from a recent Amazon order. Now I just need to sterilize them. Does anyone have a favorite sterilizer that doesn’t take up too much space?

five: This is the noise machine we will use for him. I never understood sleeping with a noise machine, but now I’m so used to Maxi’s coming through our monitor, I almost want one for myself. haha.

six: Speaking of sleep, I also ordered this sleep swaddle for him!

seven: I had purchased this baby book for Maxi unsure if I’d use it or not. I used a different one with her, but since I have this one, I will use for baby brother. 🙂

eight: I love Stoney Clover and how cute is this for your diaper bag if you need to carry snacks for a toddler and baby?!

nine: A classic blue paci clip!

ten: Little English is another favorite clothing brand of mine, and this little bubble will soon be in his closet.

eleven: When I ordered the matching pajamas, I ordered this blanket. It’s a bit thicker and larger, so I can use it as a playmat for tummy time in a separate room as well.

twelve: I used the matching pink swaddle for Maxi’s newborn photos {see them here} so I wanted to carry on the tradition.

thirteen: I have shared this little newborn set on Insta Stories, but in case you missed, this is for your hospital stay! You get a little gown, swaddle, and fitted sheet for the baby’s hospital bassinet. Code Kateymcfarlan15 gets you 15% off!

fourteen: We loved these bibs for Maxi, so I just went with the same for him! So easy to clean!

fifteen: I love that these play tiles come in different colors so you can pick your preference. I’m not sure what his play space will look like when the time comes {our living room is smaller} but I wanted to have these on hand, so I can be flexible in the space I set it up in.

I’m giving birth to my second son in 3 weeks and have had to adjust as well. My 3 year old won’t be able to meet his little brother in the hospital and I had to cancel all family traveling to Dallas to meet our new bundle. It’s sad for sure, but the right think to do. I have heard so many conflicting things about pregnant women being more at risk for severe complications with this virus, and that’s where my concern really lies these days. My OBGYN said there just isn’t enough research to know if that’s the case.. what did yours say? We are all in this together and will make it through! Such a crazy time.

Hi Jamie! Oh girl my heart hurts for you! I am so sorry! Like you said, it is the right thing to do, but not what you dream of especially as a second-time mom. I know for me, I dreamt of Maxi meeting her brother in the hospital, almost as much as I dreamt of meeting my son for the first time. Sending you a big hug!

There is so much conflicting information and that’s what is so scary! My OB said the same as yours, how there just isn’t enough research and they are taking info from 2 births and both are conflicting in what happened. Now, I have two hemorrhages {one is larger around 10 cm} so my placenta isn’t how one would normally be. She said if your placenta is fine, it should protect them. She told me I shouldn’t even go to the grocery store until I deliver, but I *think* that’s because I’m high risk.

It’s not at all what I could ever imagine we would be thinking of at the end of our pregnancies. I am praying you have a safe delivery and it can be a sweet time even though it will look different. 🙁

      Xx,

I am researching carpet options for our daughter’s room. Would you mind sharing the carpet in the room in this post? Do you like it?

Hi Caroline! I’m not sure the exact carpet {we ordered through a designer} but a reader told me it is “Iced Marble” if that helps! 🙂 We love ours! xx, Katey

    Hi Katey!

Will you be getting a bassinet for your new little one? If so, which one? I have heard mixed reviews on the Halo, but am at a loss on which others I should be looking at. .

    Best,
    Carol

Hi Carol! Yes! I got the bassinet from Restoration Hardware. I didn’t like the Halo with Maxi and didn’t want to spend the money on the Snoo one. I hope that helps! Xx, Katey
