  • Favorite Mom Find: We were lucky in that we didn’t have much trial and error with bottles when it came to Maxi. When I started to pump, she took to a Como Tomo bottle with no issue. However, sippy cups have been another story. When we first started her on sippy cups, we used the NUK Learner Cup. Then, when we switched to teaching her a straw, we found that the cups we were using caused her to get water too quickly and she would choke. It was always so scary as a first-time mom. If we found a cup that she could drink from fine, we found that then it would leak on the floor. Some sippy cups she flat-out refuses and will push away. My mom found the Smilo Sippy Cup {I’m sure late night googling!} and ordered us three. We have had great luck! No leaks and the water doesn’t come out too quickly. I thought I’d share that if you are in the sippy cup phase!
  • Favorite Purchase From Costco: Sippy cups and Costco talk- ha! If you’re here for beauty products, you are probably skimming right on through. But I LOVE a good Costco run, don’t you?! I asked y’all what you get from Costco and thank you to the girls that suggested the Coconut Clusters. Oh my goodness, these are divine! You need to buy two bags because one isn’t enough. I find myself reaching for them 24/7 which is probably a bad thing, but I love them and I’m not even a big coconut person.
  • Favorite Natural Product: I haven’t had a Wellness Wednesday post in a bit because I’ve been testing lots of products. I don’t like to cross-over while testing products from brands because if I break out or have great skin, it’s hard to see which one was the culprit! For example, I was testing one natural self tanner and my legs were SO itchy for days. I had also switched fabric softeners at the time, so it took me almost a month to find out what the problem was. haha. However, I’ll have a new post in June I hope you all enjoy. One of the favorite finds was this Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy. At first, I thought, “Oh, it’s just like coconut oil on your lips. No big deal.” I’ll go more in-depth in the post but it’s paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, gluten-free, silicone-free, GMO-free, synthetic fragrance-free and petroleum-free. Whew! Mouthful! I love that it is not sticky and combats the dry liquid lip issue! I apply this gloss in the middle of my pout with liquid lipstick [this is a great option for non-toxic beauty!] and then before bed. Speaking of non-toxic beauty has anyone seen that Lawless is coming out with a foundation?! I hope this is a game changer. I’m actually trying to build a post on a non-toxic makeup bag for those interested. I get a lot of pregnant moms that request that and so if you are interested, stay tuned. It may take me a few more months to find my favorite product, but I’m searching!
  • Favorite Visit: I had a quick 30-hour trip earlier this month to San Francisco to celebrate Amy Beth turning 30! We drove up to Napa and it was lovely! I mean when you’ve got miles and your girlfriend asks you to drink wine with her for her 30th birthday, it’s hard to resist! Ha. I was so happy I could help her celebrate such a milestone birthday as she embarks on a new chapter in life. I’m in my twenties still, so we chatted a lot about the growing you go through from 20 to 30. She repeatedly told me she cares less about friendships that just won’t work and also perception. I love that!
  • Favorite Blog Post: Mackenzie’s living room reveal was preppy perfection. If you love blue and white, you mustn’t miss it! I would die for that coffee table.

Your Most Asked Questions

  • What was your friend’s preset?: I’m working on a blogging hack post soon! I have a really wordy blogging tips post from 2016, but I still send it out daily because I think it all holds true now. However, I’m sure many of you have blogs you frequently update and I thought it would be fun to share some hacks. I’ll share my top hacks and then I’d love for you to include yours. I think it would be a great resource for other women because starting a blog can be terrifying- so it’s nice to have some friends that are willing to help. One hack is photography presets. I’ll share these more in the post, but I shared my friend Marina’s this month. The reason I continue to share her’s is that she has a MOBILE FRIENDLY one and that’s huge! If you don’t have a mobile-friendly preset, you’re going to be sending your images to your computer, editing and back to your phone- all for one Instagram photo. If you don’t blog full-time or you just want pretty photos, that’s too time-consuming. She also makes her’s very easy to understand and learn and I’ve seen a loooooooot of pre-set instructions.
  • Do you have lash extensions?: I think a lot of you all have easy summer beauty on the brain because one of my most asked questions this month was if I had lash extensions. I’ve never had them, but it’s all because of this serum! I’m going to do an updated blog post on the serum, but trust it’s my holy grail product. I do not recommend it if you are pregnant or nursing.
  • Can you tell me about TULA’s ingredients?: The weekend of my Tula event {another May favorite!} we did a meet & greet at Nordstrom for their Beauty Trend Event. It was a blast getting to help on the retail side that day and answer customer’s questions in real life. I got to talk to women face-to-face and see what their skin concerns were, give my recommendations and allow them to test the products. I felt like I was living my best life because you all know I live for a good skincare product. 😉 Anyways, some girls couldn’t make the meet & greet and I got quite a few e-mails about TULA ingredients! I thought it would be easy to share that information here with you all as well- in case you were curious, too. Get ready, it’s a mouthful- but I hope this is helpful. TULA products are made with natural probiotics and clean superfood ingredients. NO TULA product contains phthalates, parabens, toxins, carcinogens, mineral oil, sodium laurel sulfate or harmful preservatives. They are also proudly cruelty-free. TULA was also founded by a board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Roshini Raj {she is still practicing in NYC!} and she is incredibly passionate about wellness from the inside out. What I really love about the brand is they use third-party clinical testing, RIPT testing, micro testing and stability testing to ensure the safety and efficacy of their products. This is above and beyond what is required for most beauty brands in the US. So while I know some girls want the details on ingredients and some girls want before and afters and some girls just want a product that works for them {I hope my blog shares a mix of those kinds of reviews and brands for you!}, I’m always happy to be your liaison for brand education and learn as much as I can for you all. I love blogging because I’m constantly learning about products, so you don’t have to spend too much time away from the people you love to purchase the products you love. And I KNOW that sounds so cheesy, but it’s truly how I feel. {My TULA code is “Katey” for 20% off. I get asked this a lot through DM so I always like to leave it in posts for you all in case you can’t find it. 🙂}

Projects

  • Celebrations: This summer is filled with celebrations! This weekend we go to Disneyland, In July I am throwing my best friend’s bachelorette party, Paul turns 30 and I’m planning Maxi’s half birthday! Remember the flu saga? I had rescheduled her party 4 times, we all would come down with the flu each week?! My mom and MIL were like, “Do not reschedule this madness again! Just wait until summer!” It turned out perfect because we will do a half birthday party and have it be a small little pool party.
  • Home Projects: In terms of home projects, we had a great meeting with our designer this month. Our next step is the master bedroom and our formal living. I’m just obsessed with the drapes she chose for the master. I honestly think I’m going to do 2 different blog posts when we share that because there are a few different sections of our master I’d like to highlight. We also have furniture ordered for the formal living. I had purchased these dream chairs from Ballard Designs, these panels from Frontgate and now I ordered our sofa. My friend Amy Beth told me about Room and Board when we were in San Francisco. I asked my designer and she said she really loved the quality and we should go with that. I picked something linen and will keep you all posted!

Monthly Read

This month I actually read two books! I was obsessed with my reads and would read them walking on the treadmill. I brought the books everywhere, it was almost funny. I read “The Marriage Lie” in a few days- highly recommend- and “After I Do.” Both would be perfect beach reads if you have any trips coming up!

As always, I just want to thank you for coming to COF this past month! I enjoy each and every comment, message and interaction I have with you all!

Editor’s Note: I apologize if the formatting is a little off with this post. My site was down the past two days and we’ve been working diligently to get it all squared away! Things should be fine now, but because I had written half this post before the issue it’s being a BIT of a pill. 😉

    Thanks for the tip on the sippy cup! We are in the same struggle with cups – I feel like we’ve tried so many haha. The Tula event sounds amazing! I’ve been using their products for awhile now and so excited Nordstrom is carrying them now. Since you’re into natural products, check out Blue Mercury’s Lune + Aster line – I’ve tried a few things recently (mascara, brow gel) and have really been impressed!

    Love these posts! So is walking on the treadmill your new go-to fitness routine? You look fabulous! I’m 8 months postpartum, haven’t gotten myself able to really work out yet but need to!!! Was thinking of starting with walking on the treadmill, but wondering if that will really do anything. And as you know, now being a mom it’s hard to fit anything in! Also bought the Lalalicious oils, they’re great!!

      Hi Kim! Yes, that’s what I’ve been doing! It’s a slow start but I’ve seen it help a lot! 🙂 I just walk for 30 minutes on an incline of 8 and do a speed of about 3.5. I hope that helps girl! xo, Katey
